Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an open-world action RPG developed and published by Capcom. It is the sequel to the 2012 game Dragon’s Dogma, following its expansion Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. Released on May 22, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the game expands on the themes and mechanics of its predecessors while leveraging Capcom’s RE Engine.
Set in an alternate world within the same universe as the first game, Dragon’s Dogma 2 once again calls upon an Arisen, the customizable player avatar, to face it and fulfill their destiny; the Arisen must slay the Dragon, reclaim their stolen heart, and claim the throne. Accompanied by their Pawns—emotionless, interdimensional helpers from the Rift, a realm linked to other Arisen—the journey unfolds in a land fraught with conflict. In this world, the Kingdom of Vermund has installed a fake Arisen as their king, while the Kingdom of Battahl blames Pawns for their misfortunes. As the true Arisen, players must navigate these tensions and strive to bring peace to the troubled land.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 retains its open-world exploration and real-time combat system. Players create their Arisen and Pawn using a character editor and select from a variety of Vocations or character classes, including new ones exclusive to the sequel. Each vocation offers unique skills and progression paths.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Gameplay
Dragon's Dogma 2 is a third-person action RPG set in a vast, seamless open world. This world is significantly larger than its predecessor and is inhabited by a diverse range of creatures, including humans, elves, and the cat-like beastrens. The Arisen, on their path to reclaiming their stolen heart, is joined by loyal Pawns. Players create unique Pawns, customizing their gender, appearance, and even race. Additional pawns created by other players can be recruited to complete the party. These companions assist in battle and often offer advice on their journey.
The heart of the game's combat lies in its vocation system. Much like the first game, players can choose from a range of basic, advanced, and hybrid vocations, with the Arisen being the only one to have access to the hybrid classes. Both returning options from the original game and new additions, such as the Mystic Spearhand and Trickster, are available. As characters level up, they can specialize their vocations and unlock more powerful abilities that can aid them in their quests.
