Tales of Berseria Remastered Gameplay

Tales of Berseria Remastered retains the exhilarating, action-focused combat of the original, based on the Linear Motion Battle System (LMBS), which sees characters chain various offensive and magical skills known as Artes across the four face buttons. The core mechanic revolves around the Soul Gauge, a dynamic resource representing the maximum number of Artes a character can link in a combo.
Players must strategically manage their Souls by exploiting enemy weaknesses, inflicting status ailments, or stunning foes to "steal" their Souls and extend their combos, but enemies can do the same, making combat a constant risk-reward balance. It also features the Break Soul ability, unique to each character, which costs a Soul to use but can interrupt enemy attacks, extend combo chains, or provide temporary boosts, adding a layer of tactical depth to the fast-paced battles.

The Remaster introduces significant Quality-of-Life (QoL) improvements to the overall gameplay experience, such as a 1.2x increase in default movement speed, an autosave function, a retry option after losing normal battles, and the addition of destination and sub-event markers on the field to simplify navigation.
Furthermore, players now have the option to toggle enemy encounters, access the Grade Shop from the start with an initial amount of Grade, and utilize infinite-use fast travel bottles much earlier in the game, providing a more streamlined and convenient adventure through Velvet Crowe's dark quest for vengeance.
Tales of Berseria Remastered Story Plot

Tales of Berseria Remastered immerses the player in a dark, emotionally charged tale of vengeance versus reason, set in the archipelago kingdom of Midgand. The story follows Velvet Crowe, a once-kind girl who is brutally betrayed by her brother-in-law, Artorius, on the night of the Scarlet Night, witnessing him sacrifice her younger brother, Laphicet, in a ritual that grants her a demonic arm and transforms her into a Therion—a being that consumes demons.
Imprisoned for three years, Velvet breaks free, fueled by an all-consuming hatred for Artorius, who has now become the head Exorcist, a revered figure attempting to save the world from the Daemonblight by suppressing all human emotion and free will in a harsh pursuit of absolute order. Velvet gathers a motley crew of anti-heroes, including the daemon swordsman Rokurou, the enigmatic witch Magilou, the pirate Malak Eizen, and a young, emotionless Malak she names Laphicet (Phi), and later the conflicted Exorcist Eleanor Hume.
Their journey is one of moral ambiguity, fighting against the theocratic Abbey's efforts and the perceived savior Artorius, whose methods they believe are fundamentally wrong, even as they realize his ultimate goal is to awaken the Empyrean Innominat to fully cleanse malevolence. The narrative ultimately culminates in a tragic confrontation where Velvet must make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the future of the world and her companions, cementing the bittersweet legacy that ties this story to a preceding title, Tales of Zestiria.
