Tales of Xillia Remastered Overview
Tales of Xillia Remastered is the enhanced version of Tales of Xillia, originally released in 2011 in Japan (and 2013 internationally). It’s the thirteenth main entry in the long-running Tales series, and this remaster brings the PS3 classic to modern platforms, specifically PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S. It was released on October 31, 2025.
The game begins with the player choosing between two protagonists: Jude Mathis, a medical student; or Milla Maxwell, the Lord of Spirits. Together, they uncover a hidden threat in Rieze Maxia. A powerful device created b y the kingdom of Rashugal is draining the world of its mana. Their resulting alliance fuels a quest to dismantle the said device and preserve the balance between humanity and spirits.
The remastered edition retains the Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System of the original. It is a real-time combat style where players can link two party members to execute synchronized combo attacks and support skills. Beyond the improved visuals, Tales of Xillia Remastered introduces a suite of quality-of-life enhancements, such as auto-save and the early access to the Grade Shop. It also includes over 40 DLC items like costumes and bonuses.

Tales of Xillia Remastered Gameplay
Tales of Xillia Remastered’s combat remains rooted in the Dual-Raid Linear Motion Battle System (DR-LMBS), where battles occur in real time within a 3D arena. Players control one character directly, while AI-controlled allies act based on pre-set instructions. The system employs an Assault Counter to regulate consecutive actions, and Technical Points (TP) to fuel special attacks known as Artes. Players may also link with another party member to perform Linked Artes, which has its own gauge that must be filled up through battle actions. Once full, characters will be able to go into an Over Limit to deal successive linked Artes.
Character progression continues to make use of the Lilium Orb System, a grid resembling a spider web. Gaining Growth Points (GP) upon leveling allows players to allocate nodes for stats and new skills. Fully surrounding a node cluster unlocks more abilities.
Outside combat, players navigate a field map with a fully rotatable camera, which is a departure from earlier Tales titles’ that had fixed camera angles. Encountering enemies on the field transitions to the battle screen. The remaster also adds convenient features such as skippable cutscenes and skills, enhanced toggle options for movement speed and camera distance, and more.
