Tales of Graces f Remastered Overview

Tales of Graces f Remastered is an enhanced version of the 2010 PS3 port, Tales of Graces f. The game is scheduled for release on January 16, 2025, for consoles in Asia, and January 17, 2025, for everywhere else. It is the 12th mainline entry in the Tales series and was originally released in Japan for the Wii in 2009. It later received a worldwide release on PlayStation 3 in 2012.

Set on the planet Ephinea, Tales of Graces f explores a world divided among three nations: Windsor, Strahta, and Fendel. Years after a pivotal tragedy, Asbel Lhant reunites with childhood friends Sophie and Prince Richard to unravel secrets that could determine the fate of their world. Aside from the main story, the remastered version also retains the "Lineage and Legacies" epilogue, which sees the party reunite once more after the end of the game to investigate the cause of the growing monster population.

Tales of Graces f Remastered utilizes the Style-Shift Linear Motion Battle System, similar to Tales of Zestiria. This system revolves around the Style Shift mechanic, which allow players to seamlessly switch between two combat styles during battles to create powerful combos. Aside from the aforementioned, this remastered edition also boasts updated visuals, adds quality-of-life features such as auto-save and event skipping, and includes all previously released DLC.

Tales of Graces f Remastered Gameplay

In Tales of Graces f Remastered, players traverse interconnected locations from a third-person perspective on a field map. While exploring, they can undertake main and side quests and interact with NPCs. The game also features character skits with animated portraits and full voice acting that add more personality to the characters.

Combat, however, takes place in separate arenas and uses the Style Shift Linear Motion Battle System. This system allows players to switch between two combat styles—Assault Artes and Burst Artes. These styles facilitate chaining together combos and adapting strategies to combat scenarios. A resource called Chain Capacity governs the number of actions a character can perform before requiring a recharge.

Tales of Graces f Remastered has yet to release, but its original PS3 version received mixed reviews, scoring a 77 out of 100 on Metacritic. Eurogamer praised the game's depth after a clunky start, awarding it an 8 out of 10, and GameSpot agreed, giving it a 7 out of 10. Both outlets criticized the lengthy and cliché-ridden prologue. GameTrailers, however, was less forgiving, giving the game a 6.7 out of 10 due to excessive backtracking and linear level design.

Despite the mixed critical reception, Tales of Graces f has a generally favorable user score of 8.5 out of 10 on Metacritic. Many users praised the game's story and innovative gameplay, though they also criticized the slow start and errand-filled early hours.
