Against The Storm Story Plot
Against The Storm's story revolves around your journey to end the eternal storm that's sweeping your land. As one of the Queen's many viceroys, it is your sworn duty to establish outposts out in the sea of trees. This will not be an easy task, as you will build these outposts from scratch, using your guile, strategy, and knowledge of statecraft to manage its many aspects.
Should you ever find the means to end this eternal rain, your civilization can rise again, and perhaps it won't just be the capital that would feel the warmth of day again.
Against The Storm Gameplay
Against The Storm features the staples of city-builders as well as roguelikes, creating a blend of mechanics that synergize well together. You will be building an outpost from scratch, balancing your villager's needs with the orders the Queen has tasked you with fulfilling. All the while, the sky will rain and the forest will remain hostile, both threatening to lower your outpost's resolve and ending your tenure as a viceroy.
Along the way, boons and resources will be provided at random, similar to other roguelikes like Hades and Death Must Die. Should you succeed in setting up an outpost, you must do so again repeating until you reach the end of the map and find a way to end the eternal rain. In between each outpost, you have a chance to unlock new perks and bonuses through a tech tree in the capitol, bought with meta-game currency earned from each successful or failed outpost.
Each run will get progressively harder, but newer tools, facilities, bonuses, and stat increases await you with every unlock.
