Starfield treated the fans to a ton of gameplay footage and features explained during its livestream. Todd Howard and the rest of the Bethesda team walked the viewers through the processes and functions of each component created to encapsulate the Starfield galaxy.
One of the fundamental design goals of Starfield is to communicate the awe and beauty of space exploration. The game has a NASA Punk
feel, which utilizes modern technologies while retaining a grounded and familiar design. Every feature, even your ship, with a little retro and analog feel, showing the attention to detail.
With 45 minutes of details about Starfield gameplay, viewers were taken on a deep dive into space about the cities and settlements in-game, exploration, customization, and space combat.

Planet Explorations
Set in a simulated galaxy, Starfield promises to deliver an unparalleled experience with over a thousand worlds to explore. The game offers a captivating journey through uncharted territories.
Utilizing a new animation system, the players can switch seamlessly between first-person and third-person perspectives, giving them a better view of what they are exploring.
The creators of Starfield carefully examined data from NASA and other sources to produce a convincing cosmos that strikes a balance between science fiction and realism. Every element is planned to immerse players in an authentic and captivating experience, from planetary atmospheres to biome placements dependent on the planet's distance from the Sun.
Starfield emphasizes exploration as you set foot on several planets, allowing you to explore their distinctive ecosystems, and gather essential objects. You'll be able to travel through space with a star map and find worlds with essential sites, tasks, and indications of life.
Starfield breaks the boundaries of civilized space, offering unclaimed systems to explore. But be wary, as these areas are also home to hostile factions.
Space Combat
The game also features an exhilarating space combat system, where you'll navigate your ship through intense battles.
Space combat will be a delicate balance between your piloting abilities and the power allocation mechanism. Increasing power speeds up your ship; increasing grav drives reduces the time it takes to jump, and so on.
You will be able to not only target and shoot enemy spaceships, but also latch onto their ships and hijack them to claim it as your own. You can even use the parts on those ships to customize your own.
Character Creation and Customization
The game does not skimp on character creation, providing a wide variety of highly detailed and diverse customizations.
Character creation is more than simply how you look; it is also the beginning of creating who you want to be, which is where backgrounds come in. Backgrounds offer you a brief backstory and equip you with three fundamental abilities. A background of your character gives them depth and could prove useful in unforeseen situations. Additionally, traits can be changed, and each one has benefits and drawbacks, allowing for individualized gameplay.
The skill system in Starfield will be a crucial aspect to developing your character. As you level up, you'll earn skill points that can be used to unlock or rank up various skills. Completing challenges associated with each skill will unlock higher ranks, providing a sense of progression and customization that can be tailor to your preferred playstyle.
And of course, your spaceship can be customized. You can customize your ship by adding different cockpits, engines, fuel tanks, and more. You will have the freedom to completely design your spaceship.
It can look like an animal, or you can even go full mecha. The limit is your imagination. However, make sure your ship is comfortable since it will act as your home base where you can upgrade skills, weapons, and inventory.
Crew Characters and Relationships
As you traverse this vast universe, you'll encounter various characters, such as Sara Morgan, a former soldier and adventurer; Mattheo, a theologian; Noel, a gifted scientist; and many others. These individuals can join your crew and contribute functional abilities that facilitate exploration. Your interplanetary journey may be enhanced by the romantic relationships that develop from friendships.
You will be meeting plenty of different characters that you'll be able to bring into your crew on every planet or space station that you explore.

Constellation Explorer's Watch
In addition to the game itself, Bethesda is releasing a collector's edition that includes the Constellation Explorer's Watch to bring Starfield to real life. This watch can be connected to your smartphone to give you notifications and information like a barometer, weather information, and sunrise, sunset, and moon phase information.
Aside from the watch, Bethesda also has a limited edition Starfield Xbox controller inspired by the actual controls of the spaceships in Starfield. It also includes a customized headset that was created to match the controller, a first-ever for Xbox.
