Stellar Blade’s long-awaited Photo Mode and NieR: Automata DLC update introduced some game-breaking bugs, but developers Shift Up assures that a hotfix patch is on its way. Read on to learn more about the details of the bug and the patch!
Stellar Blade Update Causes Game-Breaking Bugs
Devs Now Working On Hotfix Patch
Stellar Blade’s Patch 1.009 update not only introduced the much-anticipated Photo Mode and NieR: Automata collaboration DLC, but some game-breaking bugs as well. Players have reported that when attempting to continue a certain main quest story in an earlier dungeon, they were softlocked from actually progressing. Others have also shared that they were experiencing game crashes when using the selfie cam in the Photo Mode, as well as the new cosmetic items not rendering properly when worn on Eve.
Rest assured, developers Shift Up are now working on a hotfix patch to resolve the issues. They have recommended players to not force quest progression and instead wait patiently for the hotfix update to arrive, as trying to brute-force it may cause your game to be permanently softlocked even after the fix is applied.
NieR: Automata DLC and Photo Mode
Patch 1.009 for Stellar Blade comes bundled with quite a bit of content, starting from the introduction of the NieR: Automata collaboration! The Stellar Blade developers have shared in the PlayStation Blog that NieR: Automata "significantly inspired" the game, and that this "collaboration between Director Kim Hyung Tae and Director Yoko Taro, marked by mutual respect and creativity, led to this successful outcome." To get your hands on the 11 collaboration-exclusive items, search for NieR character Emil, who has set up shop in Stellar Blade’s world to deliver amazing goods.
With such stunning, high-quality graphics, and a gorgeous cast, it’s no wonder that many players wanted some personalized snapshots of their favorite characters in Stellar Blade. Shift Up has now answered the long-awaited wish of many, and added Photo Mode to the game in the most recent update. As previously announced by the developers, Photo Mode allows players to make protagonist Eve and her companions to pose for photos. Not only that, but the game also added in new photo challenge requests to really make use of the new feature.
To complement the introduction of the new Photo Mode feature, Eve gets four new outfits to wear, and a new accessory (obtainable after finishing a certain ending) that can change the appearance of Tachy Mode. A "No Ponytail" type has also been added to the ponytail length options in the settings, offering more customization to Eve’s overall appearance. Other upgrades such as lip-sync support for 6 additional voice-over languages, improved projectile auto-aim and bullet magnet functions for the instant death skill, and various smaller bug fixes have been implemented as well for a smoother gameplay experience.
