Brown Dust 2 Release Date and Time

Brown Dust 2 developer GAMFSN and publisher Neowiz have announced the release date of Brown Dust 2 to be set in June 22, 2023. A final beta test is being done from June 8 to June 12 to deliver finishing polishes to the game in preparation for its official launch. Servers will open at 2 AM UTC, or 10 PM EST on June 21, 2023.

Set 11 years before the events of Brave Nine, Brown Dust 2 features a story that focuses on individual conflicts and development, with a more contained scenario than the previous game's far-reaching affairs. The game will also feature Character Packs, which puts characters into different worlds with wildly diverse genres. The Character Packs will add a fresh perspective using familiar characters that can be continuously added to the game and remain exciting.
Brown Dust 2 Gameplay
As a dungeon crawler with turn-based combat, Brown Dust 2 seeks to provide a vanilla RPG experience combined with features popular within the mobile game market, such as beautiful Live-2D illustrations, landscape and portrait screen support, and console-level graphics.
The game seeks to appeal to players with memories of old RPG games with SD (super deformation) characters, typically standing at around three to four heads tall.
While noting that the previous game, Brave Nine, had a complex combat system, the developers designed the second game to have a much more accessible format. For example, though it will still use a placement system similar to Brave Nine's 3x6 grid, Brown Dust 2 will only have a 3x4 grid for a total of twelve possible character placements. This should significantly reduce the difficulty in planning for teams while at the same time retaining one of the aspects that made the series unique from other games. It resembles a much more strategic and challenging version of Soul Nomad & the World Eater's layout.
Brown Dust 2 Characters
A new cast has been created to drive Brown Dust 2's storyline forward, featuring Lathel, Justia, Scheherazade, Gray, and other unannounced characters. Besides the main cast, several returning characters, such as the previous game's legendary Six Devils, will also appear, albeit in their younger forms. From the online showcase and screenshots, we also get a glimpse at what looks like a younger Rigenette and other members of the Six Devils, such as Refithea and Granhildr.
Players of the previous game who are big fans of the mercenaries there will surely have something to look forward to.
Is Brown Dust 2 The Sequel To Brave Nine?
Story-wise, Brown Dust 2 is Brave Nine's prequel.
To give some context, on February 20, 2020, an announcement was made regarding a name change for the previous game, Brown Dust.
"The goal has always been to provide an exciting and fun environment to our users and as we get ready to celebrate the anniversary of the Global launch, and to support our localization efforts, we decided that the name Brown Dust
was no longer resonating with the actual core and story of the game. So, after many brainstorming sessions and a few cups of coffee, the name Brave Nine
came as the strongest option to us, to better represent the game."
It should be noted, however, that the name change only affected the game's English, Thai, German, French, and Spanish versions. As for the Korean, Japanese, and Chinese versions, it still retained the Brown Dust title. And as GAMFSN CEO and Chief PD of Brown Dust 2 Jun Hee Lee confirms in their Online Showcase, familiar characters like the Six Devils from Brave Nine will also appear in the new game.
He also affirms that Brown Dust 2's story takes place 11 years before the scenario of Brave Nine and even provides images of Alec and Selia, two of the Six Devils, in their much younger forms. Other returning characters include Lecliss, Emma, Samay, Wiggle, etc.

The first trailer introduces the game's main cast and the story's premise. Exploration and combat in front of a beautifully-illustrated background are also teased, along with a few unique encounters with large enemies. Besides those, minor features are also shown, such as obstacles and puzzles.
Official 2nd Trailer Release : Character Pack (Released November 28, 2022)
Featuring the Character Pack system, Brown Dust 2 will provide alternative stories with different genres from the main game, such as high school fantasy and post-apocalypse. These stories will highlight different combinations of characters and involve different kinds of gameplay. Horror elements are also teased, which will surely appeal to fans of RPG Maker Horror games like The Witch's House.
Early Access Test Game Play Reveal Trailer (January 4, 2023)
Unlike the first trailer, which focuses more on the premise and main cast introduction, their January trailer focuses on the combat and exploration aspects of the game. It showcases features such as puzzles, chest looting, and terrain hazards. A few more game modes are also teased, such as the PvP Arena called Mirror Wars and a revamped version of the previous game's tower-climbing mode Evil Castle, which has turned into a dungeon-crawling experience.
