The First Descendant's Buggy Launch Still Gets 200k Players

Image
The First Descendant started off with a rather rocky and buggy launch, but still shot up the Steam charts with its high concurrent player numbers. Read on to learn about what compensations will be given, and more.

A Rocky Start

In-Game Purchase Bug Fixed Within 2 Hours

The First Descendant has made its long-awaited debut, albeit with a buggy microtransaction system that failed to deliver its in-game premium currency, Caliber, to affected players. The game’s Season Pass requires Caliber to be purchased, with the glitch making it nearly impossible to buy the said pass. Players have also reported that Twitch drops are also missing from their accounts.

Fortunately, the issue with Caliber delays has been resolved within two hours of the announcement, while the issue with Twitch drops has yet to be fully worked out, as some players are still not receiving their rewards. NEXON has reached out to Twitch for a solution, and will release a separate notice once it is properly settled.

The compensations are as follows:

⚫︎ Gold Gain Boost +30% (Duration 3 days)
⚫︎ Kyper Shard Gain Boost +30% (Duration 3 days)
⚫︎ Descendant EXP Gain Boost +30% (Duration 3 days)
⚫︎ Weapon Mastery EXP Gain Boost +30% (Duration 3 days)
 ⚫︎ 2x Matte Red Paints

Please take note that the Boost items will be active immediately upon claiming.

Launch Day Bugs Being Monitored

In light of the persistent launch day issues, NEXON released a blog post on their official website detailing other known bugs present in the game, some of which have temporary fixes noted down while the developers continue to fix the problems. The post is constantly being updated, so be sure to stay tuned!

Over 200,000 Concurrent Players On Release

Despite the glaring bugs and issues, The First Descendant was still able to garner a large audience at launch, overtaking Elden Ring and Counter-Strike 2 in Steam’s Top Sellers chart and reaching a 200,000 concurrent player count just five hours after launch, then peaking at 229,257 players overall.

While the game presently struggles with an overall Mixed review rating on its Steam page due to the errors making for a negative gaming experience, NEXON’s swift response to the issues might just be what pulls players back to give it another go.
