Bethesda Gives Fans The Chance To Put Their NPC In Elder Scrolls 6
Become An Elder Scrolls 6 NPC via Charity Auction
Bethesda gave fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to include themselves as an NPC in the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6 (TES 6) by winning a charity auction. The announcement was revealed by Bethesda on Twitter (X) on February 18, 2025 as part of their collaboration with Make-A-Wish.
To earn the prize, fans must win the silent auction hosted by Bethesda on the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic website. The silent auction description reads, "One winner will have the opportunity to work with the Bethesda Game Studios development team to create a character to appear as a video game NPC in The Elder Scrolls VI." The starting bid began with $1,000 and is currently $10,450 as of writing. The winning bidder will immortalize themselves in Elder Scrolls 6 as an NPC, and the proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.
According to the event details, "With this exclusive experience, you'll work with the developers to create a custom character that will appear in the game, leaving your mark on the legendary franchise." However, there are no specific details given on how much detail will Bethesda give to the NPC, and whether the character will play a significant role in the game.
The Elder Scrolls 6 First Announced In 2018
It has been almost 7 years since the TES 6 teaser trailer dropped at E3 2018, which confirmed that the game was in pre-production at Bethesda Game Studios. Bethesda Game Director Todd Howard previously revealed the company’s plans moving forward during an interview with IGN in June 2022.
At the time, Starfield was the next big project for Bethesda, and Howard shared what the company had in store after the release of their new IP. "Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well." he said.
Despite the release of Starfield back in 2023, Bethesda remained tight-lipped regarding news of TES 6. Bethesda also worked on other titles for the past few years such as Deathloop, Hi-Fi Rush, Redfall, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
New Technology For The Elder Scrolls 6
In March 2020, Bethesda was acquired by Microsoft in a massive $7.5bn deal. This brought about a change in the company, particularly in the production of their games with Starfield running on new technology with Creation Engine 2, an updated engine based on its predecessor which was used for games like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76.
Howard confirmed in an interview with The Telegraph in June 2021 that the same engine will be used for the production of TES 6. He explained, "These new systems are optimized for the vast worlds we love to create, with generational leaps not just in graphics, but CPU and data streaming as well. It’s led to our largest engine overhaul since Oblivion, with all new technologies powering our first new IP in 25 years, Starfield, as well as The Elder Scrolls VI."
During the Microsoft FTC Trial in June 2023, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer mentioned that TES 6 is still "five plus years away." However, Bethesda made a surprise statement in their tweet during the Elder Scrolls’ 30th Anniversary in March 2024 regarding the development status of TES 6. Bethesda said, "Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing early builds has us filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure."
Regardless, fans would still require a lot of patience as Bethesda remains silent with any news related to TES 6. Check out our Elder Scrolls 6 page to stay up to date with the latest information about the game.
