Hollow Knight Silksong will feature additional content in the future, according to developer Team Cherry. Read on to learn more about what fans can expect with the game’s DLC and the devs’ plans for The Game Awards.
Hollow Knight Silksong Ongoing Developments
More Content Coming

Hollow Knight Silksong still has more to offer in the future, but developer Team Cherry remains tight-lipped as to when fans can expect additional content for the game. During an interview with Bloomberg on November 29, Team Cherry co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen shared some insights on the continued development of Silksong.
Hollow Knight’s sequel has been out for a couple of months now, and fans want to know more about the brave Hornet’s adventures. While the original Hollow Knight launched its first DLC around 5 months after it was released, Team Cherry doesn’t know when Silksong will feature new content.
"We didn’t plan seven years for Silksong. Not that we expect to take an excessive amount of time, but we still are pursuing the same development philosophy, which sometimes can expand our timeframe," Gibson said.

In terms of what the DLC may contain, many speculate that it will introduce Steel Assassin Sharpe, a character that was previously teased by Team Cherry on their website in 2019. Steel Assassin Sharpe was described as "a hunter from a distant land" tasked to eliminate Hornet.
When asked about what came to be with the character, Gibson stated, "Just waiting in the wings. Waiting to arrive is probably the best way to say it. One of those enemies, a little suite of Sharpe and their companions, they got tucked away for a while because the game had so much in it. And all of these pieces need polish, and polish takes time. We’re excited to reintroduce Sharpe. We just have to get to them."
Team Cherry Expects To Lose Out On The Game Awards Because of Expedition 33

It seems that Team Cherry is all hands on deck on future content for the game as they look to sit out The Game Awards (TGA). The awards show is happening on December 11, 2025, and Silksong is nominated for five awards, including Game of the Year, Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, and Best Independent Game.
However, Pellen and Gibson might not attend the event as they think Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur Expedition 33 will win most of the awards Silksong is nominated for. Gibson noted, "This year I think we’re safe. I think Expedition 33 — it’s exceptional and broadly palatable. Whereas we’re on that knife’s edge, where it appeals to some and infuriates others."
Expedition 33 has received 12 nominations for TGA, which breaks the record for the most nominations in the show’s history. There are also other big titles vying for The Game of the Year award, such as Death Stranding 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hades II, and Kingdom Come Deliverance II, which probably has urged Team Cherry to not make the trip to LA and just work on Silksong’s DLC.

Win an award or not, Silksong’s future is bright as Team Cherry looks adamant in bringing out more content for Hornet’s journey in the Kingdom of Pharloom. "We’ll have more to talk about, more frequently. [...] We are working on stuff at the moment. The cadence will be more frequent coming up," Pellen said.
