Konami Fully Committed To Silent Hill Series’ Future
Making a Statement by Announcing 3 Titles At Once
Konami is fully committed to the future of the Silent Hill series, as evidenced by its statement three years ago, when it announced multiple titles simultaneously. In a Twitter (X) post by Silent Hill series Producer Motoi Okamoto on October 17, 2025, he reiterated the plans of the studio for the popular horror franchise.
Back in October 2022, Konami held a Silent Hill Transmission livestream where they announced Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill Townfall. According to Okamoto, they didn’t just want to make a remake, but they wanted to assure fans that the series has a future.

He stated, "We didn’t want to just announce a single remake to ‘test the waters’. We wanted people to feel how serious we were about reviving the series." Okamoto admitted that working on a remake alongside a new title has its risks, but developing a new game conveys the seriousness of the studio in reviving the franchise.
"Users won’t feel motivated to engage with an IP unless they can sense it has a future. If the company takes a wait-and-see approach, so will the players. The company needs to show how serious it is so that users can get genuinely excited. I think that’s only fair," he said.

This strategy became fruitful as both Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f have been well-received by fans. Based on their Steam pages, Silent Hill 2 Remake has received "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews, while Silent Hill f has "Very Positive" reviews.
Here at Game8, we gave Silent Hill f a 96 out of 100 for blending the series’ signature psychological horror with new and inventive gameplay systems, pushing the franchise to new heights. To know more about our thoughts on Silent Hill f, check out our review below.
Remakes Must Consider Old and New Audiences
In an earlier tweet, Okamoto also alluded to the mindset developers must have in developing remakes. He said that both current fans and newcomers must be considered for the remake to be successful.
Okamoto explained, "It’s probably a bit different for anime and games, but with remakes, even if you consider old fans, at best, about half of them will come back, so it tends to lead to shrinking," he wrote. "If you don’t design [the remake] with about half new audiences and half old fans in mind, the customer base won’t grow."

Aside from Silent Hill 2, recent remake titles such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater reinvented their respective original games to adhere to both old fans and modern audiences by incorporating new mechanics and quality-of-life improvements.
With the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Konami will continue to go back to previous titles in the series and give them a modern take. They recently announced that Bloober Team, developers of the Silent Hill 2 remake, is now in production for the upcoming Silent Hill 1 remake.

Alongside this new remake, Konami is also working on a "relatively short project" in collaboration with Netflix titled "Project N." The future of the franchise is indeed bright, but for now, fans can immerse themselves in a new horror experience in the latest installment in the Silent Hill series.
