Pokémon Go has just announced its first-ever Wild Area event set to debut in November!
Pokemon Go Wild Area, A Brand New Event, Will Go Global in November
Worldwide Release on November 23, 2024
Pokémon GO trainers can look forward to a "wild" event this November with the first-ever Wild Area event! Pokémon GO Wild Area is scheduled to take place initially in Japan, with the event expanding globally later in the month. The event will kick off in Fukuoka, Japan from November 16 to 17, 2024 before being rolled out worldwide on November 23 to 24. However, specific details about what players can expect from the Wild Area event are still kept under wraps.
In the world of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Wild Areas are a fresh take on Pokémon’s classic "routes," where trainers traverse, completing raids and rallies among other activies, to get to new areas in the game world. This Wild Area "hub" connects parts of the game and is divided into several regions, each featuring different Pokémon and weather patterns that affect certain features. The Wild Area in Sword and Shield also uses always-online features for trainers to engage in raid battles, item exchanges, and other interactions.
When trainers first enter the Wild Area in Sword and Shield, only a few sections offer Pokémon that can be caught, likewise depending on the trainer's level. Common Pokémon in this area typically include Vulpix, Oddish, and Quagsires. The Pokémon available in the Wild Area also change depending on the in-game weather, with more water-types appearing in the rain, for instance, and more fire-types showing up during hot weather.
While it’s unclear how exactly the Wild Area will function in Pokémon GO, it’s likely that some of these elements and mechanics from Sword & Shield will carry over. Nonetheless, Niantic will provide more updates regarding Pokémon GO's Wild Area Event in the coming days!
