Phantom Blade Zero Release Date Reveal At TGA 2025
PC and PS5 Exclusive For At Least Its First 12 Months

Phantom Blade Zero will launch on PC and PlayStation 5 in September 2026, and will remain exclusive on those platforms for its first year. As stated at the end of the release date reveal video at The Game Awards 2025, the game will not be available on other consoles for at least 12 months after release date.
This is the most common trend for major Sony-published PlayStation exclusives –initially launching exclusively to PlayStation consoles only, then on PC after a set period (usually 1–2 years), and rarely (if ever) released on other consoles like Xbox.
Titles like Final Fantasy XVI, Black Myth: Wukong, and Silent Hill 2 Remake all maintained PlayStation exclusivity for a year or more before their eventual release on Xbox. Although developer S-GAME has yet to confirm which platforms the game will release on beyond PC and PS5, many expect Phantom Blade Zero to also launch on Xbox Series X|S or Nintendo Switch 2.
The Phantom and The Blade
The latest trailer for Phantom Blade Zero not only revealed the game’s release date, but also gave more previews of the highly anticipated Wuxia action RPG. Running at over 4 minutes, the video showcased new bosses, gameplay, and the game’s narrative.
Starting off with protagonist Soul’s backstory, the trailer briefly explains that he is being hunted down by the Order. Within his adventures, he will meet various friends and foes that will play significant roles in his journey.

The trailer’s narration also harked on the game’s namesake, showing importance to the concept of the Phantom and the Blade. It stated, "Phantom is movement, striking from where none expected. Blade is breath which channel into steel turning any blade into a divine weapon."
In terms of gameplay, it showcased a "semi-open" world structure, moving away from linear corridors toward interconnected regions that encourage exploration. The combat remains the star of the show with its fast pace and motion that is heavily inspired by traditional Wuxia martial arts films.

The video also featured a wider variety of secondary weapons, including heavy maces and long-range spears, all of which integrate seamlessly into a "flow-based" parry system. Additionally, new boss fights such as a chained giant, a drunken masked samurai, a lion dancer, and more were showcased, highlighting their unique playstyles and grand visual effects.
With an official release date announced, fans are excited to experience a new high speed action game that is reminiscent of classic Chinese action films. Although often compared to Soulslikes with its dark aesthetic and daunting boss battles, Phantom Blade Zero looks to start the new wave of the Wuxia action genre.
