Nintendo announced that its alarm clock, Alarmo, is getting an expanded release in March 2025. Read on to learn more about its official wider release and the device’s features.
Nintendo’s Latest Announcement
Is not a Switch 2, but Alarmo
Nintendo’s interactive alarm clock, Alarmo, is getting a wider release in March 2025 as posted by the gaming company on their Twitter (X) account.
In two months or so, Alarmo will be available to everyone as Nintendo’s device will hit the shelves of select retailers worldwide. Expect Alarmo in stores like Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other Nintendo-affiliated/approved retailers.
This time around, the restriction of having a Nintendo Online membership will be lifted, making it accessible to everybody. Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo can be purchased for $99.99 USD.
Most fans are quite happy with this update, but more than that, many are still talking about Nintendo’s imminent announcement of Switch 2. Despite the surmounting amount of buzz regarding this topic, Nintendo remained tightlipped regarding the announcement of its latest console.
Nintendo Alarmo Sold Out A Day After its Announcement
One day after Alarmo’s announcement on October 9, 2024, Nintendo confirmed that its latest device is widely popular among fans. In Japan, Nintendo suspended the sales of Alarmo and resorted to a lottery system to accommodate those who wanted it.
"We have received a large number of orders for the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo, which was released on October 9th, so we are currently suspending sales of the product on the My Nintendo Store. In response to this, we are currently preparing to change the sales method at My Nintendo Store to a lottery sale for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, so please wait for a while. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to our customers. Furthermore, we will continue to produce the products in order to deliver them to as many customers as possible."
On the same day, Alarmo was also sold out in New York City. However, this store did not resort to a lottery system and instead assured customers that Nintendo would update them once there was stock.
Nintendo Alarmo Features
Alarmo is one of the latest devices Nintendo released in 2024. This alarm clock features sound effects from games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, and more! According to its website, Alarmo owners can choose from 42 scenes from these games, and the company will add more as free updates like Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Upon choosing a scene, a game character from a specific game will patiently wait on Alarmo’s screen. Once the alarm begins, the character will get up and play a gentle sound. After a few seconds, a visitor will arrive, and you can "wave your hand or move your body to make the clock quieter." If you spend too long in bed, a more "persuasive" visitor will appear, and the sound will intensify. The alarm will only stop once you get up, and can be done without picking up Alarmo, thanks to its motion sensor.
Aside from its general feature, Alarmo can also add ambiance by adding an hourly chime and Sleep Sounds themed to your chosen scene. It can also track sleeping patterns to record the time you spend in bed and how much movement you do while asleep.
If there are other people or pets in the bed, Nintendo highly recommends that owners set Alarmo to Button Mode. Initially, a Nintendo Online membership is required, but this restriction will be lifted once Alarmo’s expanded release in March 2025.
