Nintendo has officially postponed the retail release of the Alarmo in Japan due to stock issues. Read on to find out more about the news and the future of the Alarmo.
Alarmo General Sale in Japan Postponed
Inventory Does Not Meet Demand
The general sale for the Nintendo Alarmo alarm clock has been postponed to a later and currently unspecified date according to an official announcement by Nintendo Japan on their website. Originally planned to open in February 2025, this has then been postponed due to the current production and inventory situation. As of writing, there is no news on whether this will affect stocks in other countries as well, with a launch to the general public slated for March 2025.
In the meantime, Nintendo has decided to shift to a pre-order set-up, which will be available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan only for now. The pre-order period is scheduled for mid-December, with the Alarmo being shipped in early February of 2025. The exact start date for pre-orders will follow, said the announcement post.
Nintendo’s Very Own Alarm Clock
First announced and simultaneously released back in October, the Alarmo is an interactive gaming-themed alarm clock that comes bundled with familiar tunes from signature Nintendo franchises such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and even RingFit Adventure, with more sounds to come through updates.
It first hit the shelves of Nintendo’s official stores across the globe, as well as being available for purchase online with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Its unprecedented popularity took Nintendo by surprise, forcing the company to stop accepting more online orders and shift to a lottery-based system. The alarm clock was also completely sold out physically in Nintendo stores across Japan, as well as the Nintendo store in New York.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding pre-orders and the announcement of the general sales!
