Netflix has been committed to providing its subscribers with a top-notch gaming experience since 2021, beginning with the release of mobile games. Their goal is to provide a wide selection of games on a user-friendly platform that caters to each member. Netflix is now taking a giant step forward by enabling gameplay on any device where users watch their content, whether on TVs, computers, or mobile devices.

Beta Test Rollout

Netflix began a limited beta test on August 15, 2023, initially accessible to a few members in Canada and the UK. This test started on specific televisions for a few weeks. Then, it was made available to PCs and Macs via Netflix.com through supported browsers. Two fascinating games were included in the first phase of this test: Oxenfree from Night School Studio, a division of Netflix's own Game Studio, and Molehew's Mining Adventure, a fun arcade game about gem mining.

Netflix is altering how users play games on their televisions by introducing a controller that most of us are already very familiar with– our smartphones. Keyboard and mouse controls can be used by individuals using PCs or Macs when accessing games on the Netflix website.

As of October 16, 2023, Netflix has announced that it is expanding its limited beta test to the United States. This is a significant development in their effort to reinvent the gaming experience for their subscribers.

The games on TV are compatible with a few of their initial partners, including Xumo devices and TVs, Roku devices and TVs, Samsung Smart TVs, LG TVs, Nvidia Shield TV, Amazon Fire TV streaming media players, Chromecast with Google TV, and LG TVs. They also intend to keep adding more devices to expand this list.

A Global Approach

Netflix's goal in making games available on more devices is to simplify the gaming experience for subscribers worldwide. While this is only the beginning of their foray into gaming, their dedication to offer enjoyment to members through games is evident. They eagerly await beta testers’ feedback and are committed to sharing more advances on this exciting route.
