Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact has revealed its first gameplay trailer PV. Set to make its trial debut at EVO Japan 2024, it seems to already have made quite an impact on fighting game pros CAG Osaka.

Set to be released on PS5, Switch, and PC, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact promises an immersive combat experience within the iconic world of the Hunter x Hunter anime/manga series. Fans will have the opportunity to get their hands on the game for the first time at the world's premier fighting game tournament, EVO Japan 2024, scheduled to take place from April 27 to 29 at Ariake GYM-EX in Ariake, Koto, Japan.
The gameplay PV introduced the mechanics of the game's dynamic 3v3 fighting format set in a 2D arena. Familiar characters from the series, including Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika, Hisoka, and Netero, are featured with their unique movesets and abilities. Developed by Eighting, Hunter X Hunter: Nen X Impact has been compared to the devs' other fighting game titles such as Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Though currently critiqued for its perceived outdated visuals and small roster, Hunter X Hunter: Nen X Impact seemed to sit well overall with fans and even CAG Osaka, one of the most prominent esports organizations in Japan.

CAG Osaka posted a video today showcasing the Hunter x Hunter fighting game. Housing some of the most decorated professional players in the Anime Fighting Game scene, CAG Osaka members shared their thoughts in a recent interview with GoziLine upon playing Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact.
Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is a fighting game that both beginners and seasoned players can enjoy, according to member GO1. It's easy to get into, yet also requires a level of fighting acumen. "Each character is easy to control," GO1 said, "but there is no doubt that the game offers much depth when you consider the combos and tactical variations that can be created by combining the characters."
On the other hand, teammate Eita mentioned how he was surprised to find that the game's combat featured more variety than he had imagined. Eita was also particularly blown away by the game's fast pace. Fenritti, another member of CAG Osaka, praised the game's dynamic gameplay mechanics, especially noting his enjoyment of being able to do flashy moves right away.
"It's been a while since I played a game where you can move before the round starts, and it's fun to be able to create a variety of situations at the start of the round," Fenritti said. "This is my personal opinion, but in many 2v2 and 3v3 fighting games, the matches feel like they drag on and on," Eita then brought up. He said he preferred securing a victory right away.
"The exciting thing about it is that it has a system that allows you to turn the tables even if you are cornered," Eita said, noting that combos, and even single moves, deal high levels of damage. "What's interesting about this game is that the special move commands are limited to simple ones. Both beginners and experts can perform special moves with simple commands," Eita added, "but it will be difficult to perform combos manually."
For GO1, the appeal of Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact lies in its aggressive gameplay style, which enables players to unleash a barrage of combos and tactics. The depth the game offers seemed to be a home run with the esports players. GO1 shared how he makes effective use of the training mode in Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact where he cooks up different combos. "If I find that a certain combination isn't as strong as I thought it would be, I try to think of something else."
