Dragon’s Dogma 2 Exclusive Gameplay Footage

The 18-minute video shows off 4 out of 9 playable vocations namely: Fighter, Thief, Warrior, and Sorcerer. Showing off each vocation’s strengths and weaknesses as well as different aspects of the gameplay like destroyable environment, climbable monsters, and more.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Fighter Vocation Showcase

Image

The first few minutes of footage show the Fighter fighting goblins and wolves. The Fighter is a melee class using the sword and shield and one of the starter classes of the game. The player also pulled off the perfect parry against the goblins which was one of the strengths of the Fighter vocation in the previous iteration.

After some progress, the party is trapped with a cyclops in an enclosed area. The player then goes on to pick up the explosive bomb in the area to break the wall and open the enclosure to a small flood. The flood then takes the Cyclops down and the band of warriors had a free opening to deal damage to the massive beast. After defeating the one-eyed beast, the party is awarded experience points and discipline points as well as a conclusion to their involvement in the presumed quest.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Thief Vocation Showcase

The next clip shows the player playing the Thief vocation and showing off the vocation’s strengths when they find a Cyclops out in the wilderness. Players of the previous game would see that the Thief is basically the melee-only version of the Strider, which was one of the starter classes in the game before. The vocation has more stamina and more damage compared to the rest when climbing monsters, which is their primary way of dealing damage to the big bosses.

The player continuously climbs the monster and deliberately aims for the giant beast’s head throughout the fight which eventually leads to the monster falling. After falling, the Cyclops is executed by the party’s combined might.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Vocation Showcase

In the third part of the footage, the player is now using the Warrior vocation and the party is fighting an Ogre. The Warrior is a strong melee combatant wielding a huge two-handed greatsword and is focused on big damage on slower swings. The Warrior's moveset is similar to the previous game, with the tackle still included in the game. The Ogre proves to be a challenge as the monster actually has a pretty long-range dropkick akin to the attack that it had in the previous game. During the encounter, the party receivessupport from a passing envoy which helps them take down the beast.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer Vocation Showcase

Image

In the final part of the footage, the player is now using the Sorcerer vocation who is oddly in a full plate of armor. This might mean that there may be fewer or no more armor restrictions in the game as compared to the previous iteration. Even with full armor, the Sorcerer gets hit by a goblin and is dealt with a significant amount of damage, showing that the vocation is still fragile in terms of defense despite having armor on.

After the party’s encounter with goblins, they encounter another Cyclops in the wilderness. The party was continuously challenged by the Cyclops and the player even had to revive their pawns a couple of times in the encounter. After some time, the Cyclops loses its balance and the party goes on to damage it. However, when the player starts casting their spell, they do not notice their stamina is spent and have to stop casting the spell. The player was offered aid by one of their pawns so that they could cast their spell. It's unclear whether or not the full armor affects the stamina of the vocation/character, but it showed that the player was gassed throughout the fight. The Sorcerer also showed off its special movement option by levitating and climbing the monster. The fight ends with the player blasting fire on the Cyclops’ face.
