Revealed a New Story DLC and Game
Dave the Diver devs MINTROCKET revealed a new story DLC and new games in the works during their AMA (Ask Me Anything) event on Reddit last November 27. The new story content will be released in 2025, while information about new games under development is still under wraps.
Many fans asked them about Dave the Diver's future. One recurring question throughout the event was about the game's expansion and sequel. The dev responded with a positive note, stating, “We have a lot of love for Dave and the characters, so we want to continue on with their journey.”
The devs further clarified this by responding to another user, “Right now, we are focusing on the Story DLC and QoL updates!” They even assured fans that “new content will definitely keep on coming” and more information about the new story content will be shared soon.
MINTROCKET did not end the surprise just yet as they also told another user that a new game was in development. “We have a separate team in the studio preparing for a new game,” they answered. “We do have more games in the works, but they are all still at very early stages.” Not much information has been revealed about these new games, but it is something fans can look forward to.
Dave the Diver’s Previous and Possible Collaborations
Another recurring question about the game is all about collaborations. Dave the Diver is known to partner with various games like the famous Godzilla franchise, adding new characters, creatures, features, and items from them. For example, players can play Balatro within the game via the “Dave & Friends” update released last August 27. They also shared their experience with Shift Up as they brought the Goddess of Victory: Nikke’s universe to the game.
“NIKKE reached out to us first, but we have a lot of NIKKE fans on the team. We actively shared our ideas and feedback and the NIKKE team worked really hard on the collab as well, and we were able to create fun content!”
In some cases, they are also the ones contacting game devs for a possible collaboration. Jaeho, Dave the Diver’s director, shared a hilarious story about this. He sent a message to Dredge’s Discord channel for a possible partnership, sparking discussions about it. He mentioned, “They didn't think I was really the director for Dave at first!”
Dave the Diver’s collab streak shows no signs of slowing down, with the devs expressing hope for future collaborations. “We hope more characters visit the Blue Hole in the future too!” they shared enthusiastically. Members of the team also revealed their dream collaborations with titles like Subnautica, ABZU, and BioShock. Additionally, the devs showed interest in teaming up with artists, as they previously did with mxmtoon. For now, however, their primary focus is on the highly anticipated story DLC.
Is Dave the Diver Coming to Xbox?
Despite the popularity of Dave the Diver, the game is still not available on Xbox consoles or Game Pass. A fan asked the developers about the possibility of an Xbox release on the same Reddit thread. Unfortunately, the devs shared that they currently don’t have the time to work on it.
“Our goal is to make the game available for as many users as possible. However, supporting a new platform requires a lot of preparation, and it may take some time, especially with our current development schedule (it's pretty hectic these days!). We'll be sure to announce any news regarding this when we can!”
Earlier this year, Spanish YouTuber eXtas1s speculated that the game would arrive on Xbox in July 2024. This bold prediction was picked up by several news outlets, fueling fans’ hopes. However, July has come and gone, and the game is still not listed on Xbox. In MINTROCKET’s latest AMA on Reddit, the team confirmed they need more time to bring this beloved title to the platform.
