Beast of Reincarnation is set to launch on August 4, 2026, as revealed during the PlayStation State of Play February 2026. Alongside the release date announcement was a gameplay trailer that showcased the game's combat.
It involves the protagonist, Emma, fighting side-by-side with her companion dog, Koo. The duo venture out the post-apocalyptic world of Japan, where forests suddenly burst out in the middle of wastelands.
The video highlighted some of Emma's abilities, which include dodging and parrying, commading Koo to send enemies flying, and going for an air combo. She primarily uses her katana and magical skills to attack, but she can also utilize her crossbow to target enemies from afar. Emma then caps off her attacks with a devastating finisher, slicing her opponent in half.
Aside from combat, the trailer shared some footage of Emma using her plant-like abilites to launch herself in the air and cross gaps. She can also use this to sneak on top of enemies and surprise them with an aerial assault.
In terms of the story, Emma mentioned that her mission was to "find and defeat the Nushi." While not much context has been given regarding this premise, it seems that Emma is being ordered by someone to execute this goal.
