Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Announced During NYCC 2025
First-Ever Fighting Game for the Avatar Franchise
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game (working title) is the first-ever fighting title for the Avatar franchise. During New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2025, developer Gameplay Group International announced that the game is set to launch in Summer 2026.
Gameplay Group International has published other fighting games such as Them’s Fightin’ Herds and Diesel Legacy: The Brazen Age. For this next project, the studio will also be leading its development, aiming to deliver the "energy of classic fighting games while breaking new ground in movement, style, and combat expression."
The game will be open for both newcomers and veterans of the genre, focusing on "fluidity, responsiveness, and online integrity." It will feature a 2D hand-drawn art style, reminiscent of the presentation of the original Avatar series.
12 Characters at Launch, Unique Flow System, and More

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will feature 12 characters at launch, with many more to arrive post-launch following its Season model. Its gameplay showcases its unique "flow system," highlighting movement with a variety of support characters that grant special moves.
In addition to the core gameplay, the game will include a single-player campaign with an original narrative, combo trials, and gallery mode. The developers also boast that the game has the best-in-class net code and crossplay.
Not much has been revealed about the game, but Gameplay Group International promises to share more in the future, including its official title. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is set to be released in the Summer of 2026 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
