Upcoming Major Stardew Valley Update

ConcernedApe Shares What’s to Come in Update 1.6

Stardew Valley’s sole developer Eric Barone, better known as ConcernedApe, has revealed the new features to look out for in Stardew Valley’s free upcoming 1.6 patch on Twitter (X). The list includes multiple major additions, including a new festival, two new mini-festivals, new late-game extras, a new farm type, and support for 8-player multiplayer on PC. Other miscellaneous additions will also be included, such as new items, new crafting recipes, over a hundred new lines of dialogue, and winter outfits for villagers.

Looking at the history of major updates and the developer’s dedication to Stardew Valley, the actual update will most likely contain much more than what he has revealed. The previous major update, Update 1.5, contained a massive amount of new content at no additional cost. This generous pattern continues with Update 1.6.

Barone paused development for his newer game, Haunted Chocolatier, to work on Update 1.6. He was supposedly only implementing quality-of-life changes for modders and a few extra content. The idea most likely evolved during development, which resulted in him adding more content than initially planned.

As of now, no release date for the update has been revealed.

Stardew Valley Cookbook

Amongst the game updates he gave, on September 1st, 2023, ConcernedApe unveiled an upcoming Stardew Valley Cookbook. It will be released next spring and will contain 50 recipes from the game. A free recipe is already available for viewing on the official Stardew Valley Cookbook Website.
