Wangyue Overview
Wangyue (望月), also known as "Watching the Moon" or "Moon Gaze" in English, is an upcoming open-world action RPG developed in China by Guangzhou Shiyue Network Technology. First revealed in late 2023, the game fuses modern and traditional aesthetics into its world. Players traverse this world as the Qing Wu, individuals who possess unique powers that lets them confront the "Nine World Suns," a phenomenon that distorts reality. Players must then unravel the mysteries behind these "suns" and their connection to the "moon," drawing inspiration from the Chinese myth of Houyi shooting down the suns.
Gameplay is described as action-oriented, with players engaging in combat and exploration within an hourglass-shaped world divided between a fantastical natural environment and a modern city suspended in the sky. The game is confirmed to be cross-platform, releasing on PC and mobile devices (Android and iOS) initially, with console releases planned for the future.
