Honkai: Nexus Anima Overview
Honkai: Nexus Anima (or simply HNA), officially unveiled in late August 2025, is the latest entry in the Honkai series, after Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai: Star Rail. First teased during the Star Rail LIVE Concert in May 2025, the reveal of the said title followed a logo reveal—featuring a blue-haired girl alongside a bear-like creature—and formal trademark filings earlier the same year.
According to the game’s website, players will explore multiple locations, called Planes, ruled by various Sovereigns and Novarchs. One of these areas is a small seaside town named Iia. In this universe, a great catastrophe known as the Sundering broke the fundamental connection between all things, the Nexus. The shattered pieces of the Nexus became creatures of Aspect energy called Nexus Anima. Players will control Animasters, who collect and cultivate these spirits. Animasters pit Anima against one another in Nexus Battles, which have become the recognized method of resolving disputes across most Planes.
Honkai: Nexus Anima is an autochess game (akin to Teamfight Tactics) where players assemble and position Anima on a grid-like battlefield and watch them duel autonomously. This is married with creature-collector elements. As per in-game gameplay footage, players can explore, glide, surf, and fly across various environments with their Anima.

Honkai: Nexus Anima Gameplay
Honkai: Nexus Anima plays as an autochess strategy game where players, playing as characters called Animasters, field teams of creatures called Anima. Much like in other autochess titles, such as Teamfight Tactics, the combat is expected to be automated once units are placed, meaning the main layer of decision-making lies in positioning and team synergy/composition. Matches appear to unfold as duels against other Animasters.
Each Anima is tied to one of several Aspects, including concepts like Light, Memory, War, Love, and Pride. These Aspects appear to potentially grant shared bonuses when multiple Anima of the same Aspect are deployed. Alongside these, Animas also possess Traits such as Striker, Protector, Blaster, or Mastermind, which likely determine their role in the duel.
