FBC: Firebreak Overview

FBC: Firebreak, developed by Remedy Entertainment, is a cooperative first-person shooter released on June 17, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is set within the Federal Bureau of Control's (FBC) headquarters, the Oldest House, 6 years after the events of Remedy's 2019 action game Control.

The lockdown that took place in Control is still in effect, but now it's up to the FBC's Firebreak operatives to deal with the volatile and deadly forces that manifest within the Oldest House.

FBC: Firebreak Gameplay

Image

FBC: Firebreak is a three-player co-op first-person shooter where players join Firebreak, an elite Bureau squad of first responders tasked with containing paranatural phenomena and neutralizing otherworldly hostiles. Each squad is well-equipped with guns, grenades, handcrafted tools, and other strange objects that may look mundane but contain immense power.

Players must complete Crisis Missions, each with predetermined goals and locations. During each run, Firebreakers must make repairs, contain threats, and, of course, survive. Certain elements, such as enemy variety, environmental hazards, and secondary objectives, can vary between runs, making every expedition deep into the Oldest Building unpredictable. Players can also customize each mission by changing any number of three settings: length, randomization, and combat intensity.

FBC: Firebreak Characters

Image

In lieu of classes or named playable characters, players are given a choice among three Crisis Kits in FBC: Firebreak. These kits are loadouts centered around a signature tool, giving players unique abilities and allowing them to fulfill a distinct role.

Splash Kit

Image
The Splash Kit is centered around the Crank-Operated Fluidic Ejector, which is essentially a supercharged, mobile firehose. Splash Kit Firebreakers can clear fire hazards from the environment and also remove status effects from allies by washing them off. They can also slow enemies down and apply the Wet status, allowing Jump Kit Firebreakers to shock them.

Jump Kit

Image
Jump Kit players are equipped with the Electro-Kinetic Charge Impactor, a versatile weapon that players can use to launch themselves great distances, charge items in the environment, and electrify Wet enemies. Jump Kit Firebreakers are crucial as they can reach objectives fast and utilize items like the BOOMbox to turn the tide of battle in their squad's favor.

Fix Kit

Image
The Big Wrench is the tool of choice for Fix Kit players. Fix Kit Firebreakers can knock enemies back by swinging their wrench, but they can also repair items during jobs, which is essential for completing missions. While items can be fixed without this kit, players who try to do manual repairs are susceptible to receiving negative status effects. These players can also build items like turrets to help in combat.
