Matchmaking Struggles
Elden Ring: Nightreign was recently released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, but was marred by matchmaking issues throughout the launch weekend. Developer FromSoftware responded quickly, addressing the problems on PS4 and PS5 in a Twitter (X) post on May 31.
The developers noted that those using NAT type 3 on the PlayStation consoles may affect matchmaking on PSN. They provided a solution for the issue, which reads, "Check your NAT type with the following steps: Home > Settings > Network > Connection Status > Check Connection Status."
In an earlier tweet, FromSoftware acknowledged the problem and told players to restart the matchmaking process if they encountered it. There are no specific fixes given for other platforms, and no patch has been announced to resolve the matter permanently.
Patch 1.02 Solo Expedition Improvements
Following the game’s day one patch, FromSoftware announced on Twitter (X) on May 30 that they will be having another patch focused on improving solo expeditions. Fans can expect the patch to go live sometime next week, and more details will be shared as the update draws near.
The improvements include the addition of "Automatic Revival Upon Defeat" for solo expeditions and an increase in the amount of runes received. Players noted that solo-play is the most difficult way to play the game, so these adjustments are necessary for them to enjoy solo expeditions.

Furthermore, fans are still clamoring for a two-player option, which FromSoftware has already considered to include in the game post-launch. Other features that fans wish to see are built-in communications, cross-play, and more. Despite some flaws in its multiplayer experience, fans showered the game with love as it gained "Mostly Positive" reviews on Steam.
Here at Game8, we gave Elden Ring Nightreign an 84 out of 100 for its unique twist of bringing FromSoftware’s savage Soulsborne grit into a whirlwind of multiplayer chaos that keeps you playing round after round. Despite some chinks in its co-op and solo runs, though still fun, tip into wild imbalance—leaving you bruised, battered, and beyond tarnished. 2 Million Players on First Day
Regardless of its matchmaking woes and solo-play balancing issues, Nightreign continues to have a solid start as FromSoftware’s latest multiplayer co-op Souls game. In just its first 24 hours, Elden Ring Nightreign has reached over 2 million players across all platforms. FromSoftware posted on Twitter (X) on May 30 Nightreign’s latest milestone and thanked fans for their support.
It was earlier reported that the game hit over 300,000 concurrent players on Steam for its first hour. Moreover, Nightreign is currently the second highest selling game on Valve’s gaming platform.
