Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War IV Gameplay

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War IV has players capture enemy territories while constructing their own base and its defenses. All four factions in the game will have different buildings available to them, with many fortification options. By constructing buildings and then performing research or upgrading the buildings, new deployable units will be unlocked for battle.
Configurable Units

There are over 10+ playable Commanders and 110+ customizable units and buildings in Dawn of War IV. Each of those units can be outfitted with a slew of different weapons and upgrades depending on the situations where they are necessary.
King Studio confirmed a few of the loadout customization options, such as the unit Space Marine Intercessor being able to swap their Bolt Rifle with an Auto or Stalker Bolt Rifle, or with an auxiliary grenade launcher. Another unit, the Intercessor Sergeant, can be equipped with a Power Sword and Hand Flamer, weapons built to fight groups.
Strategizing Your Assaults and Missions

Besides strategizing their units’ loadout, players must also plan how they’ll manage their squads and command them in assaults. Units can be sent across the map and seize control of capture points.
As you progress through the campaign, missions will pop up across different territories of the world map. Deciding which missions to tackle may have consequences, such as favoring to defend one territory’s survival could be at the expense of another’s.
Four Different Game Modes

The developers confirmed that there are over four confirmed modes: Story campaigns, Skirmish, Multiplayer, and Last Stand.
In Story Campaigns, there are a total of four distinct storylines for each of the factions: the Space Marines, Necrons, Orks, and the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Skirmish is a customizable game mode, where you can select your map, factions, difficulty settings, and more. In Multiplayer, players can have 1v1s, 2v2s, and 3v3s matches, with both co-op and competitive play as options.
Last Stand challenges players against endless waves of enemies, leading to frenetic fights for survival and resources.
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War IV Story Plot

200 years after the events of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, the four factions found themselves back in the planet Kronus. The Blood Ravens, under oath to defend Kronus, return to find it in ruin by Ork warlords fighting for dominion over the surface. Necron tombs begin to awaken, while Adeptus Mechanicus priests excavate the planet's underworld in search of forbidden knowledge.
Kronus and a section of the Blood Ravens Space Marines find their way on the wrong side of the Great Rift, a series of reality-tearing rifts that has divided the galaxy. Pre-established Warhammer 40K characters, Cyrus, Jonah Orian, and even Dark Angels Primarch Lion El'Jonson, return to fight in this conflict between factions, as well as the ancient evil that hides deep inside the planet's depths. We’ll be sure to update this section as more information is available!
