Sonic Rumble Gameplay
Sonic Rumble is a 32-player multiplayer party game where the ultimate goal is to have the highest ring count at the end of the game. Gameplay is structured into three successive rounds, each designed to progressively eliminate players until a final winner emerges. The first round (Ring Run) involves all 32 players racing through obstacle-laden courses, with the top 16 finishers advancing. The second round randomly selects from three modes:
⚫︎ Survival, where players must avoid elimination hazards.
⚫︎ Hunt, focusing on accumulating the most points through ring collection.
⚫︎ Team, which divides players into two groups to complete cooperative objectives.
The final round, Ring Battle, pits the remaining 8 players against each other in an arena to collect the most rings within a time limit.
The Version 1.2.0 update, released on May 8, 2025, introduced several new features and improvements. New stages inspired by classic Sonic environments were added, including City Escape Run, Sweet Mountain Run, Starlight Carnival Run 3, Desert Ruins Run 2, Lava Mountain Run 3, City Escape Team, Sky Sanctuary Survival, City Escape Ring Battle, and Sweet Mountain Ring Battle .
Co-op Battle mode and the Crew feature were introduced. The former has players team up and fight against the Death Queen. The latter, meanwhile, has players form teams with friends to complete special missions and earn daily rewards. The Rumble Rankings system was also added, which allowed players to compete within leagues for the highest scores, with rewards improving at higher ranks. With this addition, Season Ranking rewards were discontinued.
Furthermore, a new Skills feature was implemented. Players can now perform various actions during stages, such as increased movement speed, attacking other players, and attracting nearby rings.
Sonic Rumble Story
Dr. Eggman has created a toy-themed world known as Egg Toy Land. He dispatches toy replicas and an invitation to Sonic and his friend Tails. In this message, Eggman challenges them to navigate through his newly devised stages, asserting that the participant who amasses the most rings will emerge victorious. He concludes by expressing his intent to defeat Sonic using this scheme.
Sonic then remarks on Eggman’s apparent abundance of free time and takes him up on his challenge, regardless of if Eggman is scheming or not.
