Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven Gameplay

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a turn-based tactical RPG with a party-based combat system and several interlocking layers of strategic gameplay mechanics that is built around the unique Imperial Succession system, which replaces traditional experience-based leveling. Players control a dynasty of Emperors across a non-linear narrative driven by a Free-Form Scenario System, with the ultimate goal being to unite the world and defeat the Seven Heroes.

Progress is measured by an invisible Event Point (EP) tally, and reaching certain thresholds or completing major quests triggers a Time Skip (or Generation Skip) where the current Emperor is replaced. A new Emperor inherits the predecessors' registered Techs and Spells (skills), learned Formations (battle-order setups), and overall Imperial Standing (global skill levels), ensuring the empire's power grows continuously.

Combat is turn-based, utilizing the Glimmer system for spontaneously learning new weapon Techs mid-battle, and features the powerful United Attack option to chain damage. Strategic success hinges on careful party composition, mastering Formation use, and exploiting enemy weaknesses, as character progression is tied to the empire's history rather than individual grinding.

Furious that mankind has seemingly forgotten about their sacrifices, the Seven Heroes now pose a threat to the world in a non-linear adventure filled with various protagonists and countless new heroes.
