Roadside Research Gameplay

Roadside Research features a frantic balancing act between running a fully operational gas station and covertly preparing for an alien invasion, playable solo or in up to 4-player co-op. Players must dedicate their time to typical "human" tasks, such as stocking shelves with various items and fuel types, running the cash register, cleaning up dirt, and even mopping up random puddles of alien-excreted "goop."
This generates cash, which is vital for the station and the mission. Key Features revolve around a unique Dual Upgrade Path: one branch improves the gas station's efficiency and amenities (like signs and better products) to attract more customers, while the other advances alien technology (e.g., hidden cameras, automatic scanning trash cans, and a Hypno-board) to gather more research data on humanity.
The primary Challenge is the constant management of the Suspicion Meter: performing alien research activities, like scanning customer trash for DNA or chasing them for a photo, increases suspicion. If the meter gets too high, government agents (Men in Black) will arrive to investigate, demanding players act completely human or risk getting caught, which results in losing research, reputation, and potentially failing the mission entirely.
Roadside Research Story Plot

Roadside Research centers on a squad of undercover aliens who have landed on Earth with a singular, vital mission: to prepare for a full-scale invasion of the planet. To maintain a low profile and effectively monitor humanity, the aliens have assumed poorly-constructed disguises and taken on the most mundane human job imaginable—running a roadside gas station.
Their goal is to gather all possible research data on human behavior, physiology, and weakness without their knowledge, using the gas station as their clandestine forward operating base. This objective creates the central conflict: successfully operating the service station—refueling cars, restocking snacks, and providing service—must perfectly camouflage the secret, suspicious alien activities, such as scanning customers, stealing DNA samples, or deploying alien tech.
