The nefarious Donald Morden has been hiding for years within enemy territory, amassing his forces and power to start a massive war! The Peregrine Falcon Squad must now take action to catch and compromise Morden to a permanent end before a global war commences!
Metal Slug Tactics Gameplay
Metal Slug Tactics flips the classic run-and-gun action of the series on its head, trading twitch reflexes for strategic turn-based combat from a slick isometric view. The battlefield is a grid, and each skirmish challenges players to carefully move their Peregrine Falcons squad across it. You’ve got two action points to spend per turn—one for movement, the other for attacking, using abilities, or getting creative with environmental hazards. The game keeps the heart of Metal Slug alive, with fast-paced tactical chaos, and lets players coordinate epic sync attacks by placing characters just right, unleashing a flurry of extra hits when enemies get caught in the crossfire.
At the outpost, players can upgrade characters' skills, mod their weapons, and even snag new gear from vendors. You can assemble your party between prominent Metal Slug characters from the Peregrine Falcon crew such as Marco, Eri, Fio, and more. Each character in the squad brings their own unique flavor to the fight, from primary weapons with infinite ammo to special abilities that burn adrenaline, a resource you generate by getting up close and personal with enemies. And don’t forget those tanks! Occasionally, players can deploy a tank onto the field, capable of dishing out immense damage if they’ve got enough fuel to keep it rolling.
True to roguelike form, though, the stakes are high. While you can revive individual squad members using reinforcement points, losing everyone sends you back to the outpost, forcing you to regroup and start the campaign anew. But failure only makes victory that much sweeter as you refine your tactics and come back stronger, all while the game’s signature pixel art style and frantic energy keep things fresh and thrilling.
