Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Gameplay
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is an action-adventure game that lets players explore vibrant cities while engaging in activities like karaoke, arcade games, darts, and a variety of emotional and quirky substories.
Building on the turn-based combat introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the game continues the RPG-style system with a four-member party. Each member has unique stats and skills, and players can equip weapons, items, and assign jobs that function as a class system, offering special perks and playstyles.
The game features mechanics like the Poundmate System, allowing players to summon characters from previous games or completed substories. These summons provide support through healing or additional damage to enemies.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth enhances both combat and exploration with new features and improvements. Turn-based battles now include repositioning within a small area, adding strategic depth and enabling tag-team attacks. Strengthening bonds between characters increases the effectiveness of these attacks. The battle UI has also been refined, with options like tag-team attack commands integrated into the main interface for a smoother experience.
Kiryu’s Dragon of Dojima Job
Kiryu has a unique special to him only job called "Dragon of Dojim" which grants the ability to switch to multiple fighting styles. It also gives him the ability to break the turn-based flow temporarily to perform his brawler-combat gameplay from previous games.
Sujimon Go
Sujimon was a Pokemon-like parody mini-game introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. This minigame allowed players to find Super Jittery Men, known as Sujimon, in the world; once defeated, they would be registered in the Suji-dex. Players can then share their Suji-dex database with the Sujimon Sensei to earn rewards.
This mode was greatly expanded in Infinite Wealth, adding three-on-three battles with other Sujimon trainers, the ability to recruit Sujimon, and a new job class called "Sujimon Master," which allows you to send your Sujimon into combat.
In addition, this game mode has features inspired by Pokemon Go, such as the Sujimon stations similar to the PokeStops. Entering these stations gives you gifts, and the ability to strengthen or awaken new Sujimon.
Lastly, RGG has added a Gacha system, in which you can spend special Sujimon tickets to get random Sujimons.
The Biggest Map to Explore
Honolulu has been confirmed to be the largest map in the series—three times larger than Isezaki Ijincho. As a result, the game added additional modes of transportation, like trolley lines and the new rechargeable Segway called the "Street Surfer." This scooter can be customized and driven anytime around Honolulu.
The developers promised that the game’s version of Honolulu would be as authentic as possible, including shops from the real world in-game. Although the map is huge, RGG made sure to compress the map with as much detail and fun things to do, such as the return of substories, and mini-games exclusive to Hawaii such as hula-dancing. The trailers have also confirmed the return of previous locations such as Ijincho and Kamurocho.
Dondoko Island Mini-Game
One of the new mini-games introduced in Infinite Wealth is Dondoko Island, which has been described by content creators who’ve played the 90-minute preview as "Animal Crossing-like" and "an entirely different game within Infinite Wealth."
Players can visit the island by hopping on a dolphin. The goal is to clean up Dondoko Island and turn it into a resort destination. On this Island, you can fish, gather materials, buy and craft furniture, create new infrastructure for the island, and relax with locals.
Aside from being a sim game with a day and night cycle, this mode also has combat when trespassers invade your island. Rather than the usual turn-based combat, in Dondoko Island, Ichiban switches combat style to the classic Brawler Style in previous games. Not only can players decorate and rebuild their islands, but players can also visit the other islands made by other users.
Party Chat and Drink Links Expanded
The link system introduced in the previous game allowed players to bond with their teammates through "Party Chat" "Table Talk," and "Drink Links." Party Chat allows players to let Ichiban interact in short conversations with party members at specific locations in the world. Table Talks happen when players order particular dishes from the menu at restaurants, sparking a short conversation between Kasuga and his friends that strengthens the bonds of affected members. Lastly, Drink Links are one-on-one dialogue events that allow players to increase bond levels with members. This allows them to take on more jobs and unlock new special attacks.
These features return in Infinite Wealth with new additions such as the "Bond Bingo" which allows players to record everything they learn from their Party Chats, now called Walk and Talks. Completing these specific events in any vertical, horizontal, or diagonal row will strengthen bonds considerably.
New Job Opportunities
Introduced in the previous game, the job mechanic acts like a class system in RPGs, that allows party members to change their stats, skills, and/or style of play. In this game, jobs can be acquired in Alo-Happy Tours, a travel agency set up to help Japanese tourists in Hawaii. Aside from the new additional jobs introduced, players can find job inspiration by participating in planned island activities. Not only that, but jobs are more flexible now as players can carry over more skills learned from different jobs. Some of the new jobs include:
● Geodancer
● Ninja
● Surfer
New Shark Boss Battle
Just like in Yakuza 6, this game features a boss battle against a shark. Except this time, it’s way larger than the previous game’s, and is now called the Tyrant of the Tides. The boss battle showcases the shark using AOE attacks and being weak against electric moves.
Like a Roguelike
In a groundbreaking move for the franchise, Infinite Wealth introduces roguelike dungeons for the first time, featuring randomly generated layouts with each entry. These dungeons, set in abandoned buildings scattered across Yokohama and Honolulu, present players with the challenge of facing hordes of adversaries to rescue missing persons. Successful endeavors within these structures are rewarded with valuable treasures.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Plot
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth takes place 4 years after the events of the previous game, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The game follows protagonists Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu as they embark on a journey into past places in the series: Ijincho, Kamurocho, and the new exciting waves of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Ichiban Kasuga—a lovable underdog looking for his mother who’s supposedly in Hawaii—and Kazuma Kiryu—a man confronting his final days with his unstoppable fists. Fate brought the two ex-Yakuza members together to confront their past. Fortunately, they have their friends by their side to support them against sinister gangs out to stop them. This game is set to be the emotional conclusion to Kiryu Kazama’s saga and the true beginning that cements Ichiban as the new face of the franchise.
