South of Midnight is an action-adventure game with major narrative elements and platforming mechanics. Striking the same vein as other adventure games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, this third-person adventure sees the main protagonist, Hazel, traverse a topographically rich swamp using a mystical power that lets her jump, swing, and glide across the foliage.
Unique Weave System
South of Midnight features a dynamic combat system where precision-timed dodges and strikes are essential for overcoming enemies. Players will engage in battles, clear obstacles, and utilize conjured past incarnations of objects to navigate the environment, solve puzzles, and cast combat-based spells. Spells such as Push,
Pull,
and Weave
are key tools in your arsenal—pull distant enemies close to initiate melee combos, push them back to interrupt and stun their attacks, and capitalize on the opportunity with follow-up strikes.
Restoring a Broken World
The game introduces Haints, a diverse enemy class corrupted by dark forces. Players will guide Hazel as she utilizes her weaving powers and magical tools to cleanse these creatures and their surroundings, restoring the area to its natural state.
Among the notable foes are Two-Toed Tom, a massive blind albino alligator the size of an island, and Huggin’ Molly, a monstrous spider-like woman capable of spinning webs that players must carefully dodge while strategizing their attacks.

Hazel’s journey begins with the search for her missing mother, who was swept away by a powerful hurricane. She finds her town, Prospero, unsettlingly calm yet permanently altered by the storm's devastation. As Hazel embarks on her quest, she uncovers hidden truths about herself and her family’s lineage, encountering fantastical beings along the way, including a large, talking catfish.
