South of Midnight Story Plot
South of Midnight is a modern fantasy story populated by the mythos and folklore of the Deep South. Featuring creatures of legend and lesser-known gods, South of Midnight is an exploration of a culture not often depicted in modern media.
Step into the shoes of Hazel as she learns to weave a mysterious power to surmount fantastical obstacles and dispel the pain haunting her hometown. Encounter larger-than-life beings as you wade through the swamps, making both friends and enemies along the way.
South of Midnight Gameplay
South of Midnight is an action-adventure game with major narrative elements and minor platforming mechanics. Striking the same vein as other adventure games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, this third-person adventure sees the main protagonist Hazel traverse a topographically rich swamp using a mystical power that lets her jump, swing, and glide across the foliage.
South of Midnight also has a robust combat system where timed dodges and strikes are key to defeating enemies. It’s not quite a soulslike in that regard, but just hacking and slashing with reckless abandon won’t win you any fights.
