Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Overview

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is an RPG adventure game developed by RGG Studios and published by Sega, set for release on January 26, 2024. This is the ninth main installment in the Like a Dragon series, also known as Ryu Ga Gotoku or the Yakuza series, and it serves as a direct sequel to 2020’s Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Yakuza 7).

The game follows Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist of the previous title, on a journey to Hawaii in search of his mother. However, he quickly finds himself entangled in the island’s criminal underworld. Joining him is Kiryu Kazuma, the protagonist of the earlier Yakuza games, including Like a Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Continuing the shift introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Infinite Wealth replaces the series' signature action-brawler combat with a turn-based system. Players will explore both the familiar district of Yokohama and the vibrant streets of Honolulu, Hawaii, alongside Ichiban and his friends.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Gameplay

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is an action-adventure game that lets players explore vibrant cities while engaging in activities like karaoke, arcade games, darts, and a variety of emotional and quirky substories.

Building on the turn-based combat introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the game continues the RPG-style system with a four-member party. Each member has unique stats and skills, and players can equip weapons, items, and assign jobs that function as a class system, offering special perks and playstyles.

The game features mechanics like the Poundmate System, allowing players to summon characters from previous games or completed substories. These summons provide support through healing or additional damage to enemies.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth enhances both combat and exploration with new features and improvements. Turn-based battles now include repositioning within a small area, adding strategic depth and enabling tag-team attacks. Strengthening bonds between characters increases the effectiveness of these attacks. The battle UI has also been refined, with options like tag-team attack commands integrated into the main interface for a smoother experience.
