Action RPG featuring Soulslike Elements
As a prequel to the main game, Lies of P: Overture serves as an introduction to the mechanics and systems featured in the main game. It is a third-person action RPG where players assume the role of P, a puppet exploring the gothic city of Krat and fighting off robotic enemies called Puppets.
Combat is action-packed with a strong emphasis on precision and timing, strategic attacks, dodging, and blocking/parrying, similar to games in the Soulslike genre, such as Elden Ring and Bloodborne. Mechanics also include a system comparable to Bloodborne’s Rally, where lost health can be recovered by immediately landing counter-hits on enemies.
Extensive Weapon Customization and Character Progression
Players can equip P with a variety of weapons, including swords, axes, and other tools. Weapons have different attributes and stats that allow for different playstyles. Weapon customization features a mechanic known in the game as Fable Art, which acts similarly to weapon skills in RPGs.
P can be customized and upgraded throughout the game, allowing players to enhance his mechanical body improving his stats and skills. Character progression is tied to a skill tree system where abilities can be continuously improved and new abilities can be unlocked. These abilities affect both combat and exploration.
Exploration Mechanics and Narrative-Driven Elements
The game has exploration mechanics where players can interact with the world and uncover secrets, puzzles, and items. As players explore, more lore and new areas can be discovered while dealing with enemies. Riddles and puzzles in the game supplement the game's lore.
It also has narrative-driven elements that influence the gameplay, where decisions made can affect the outcome of the storyline. Incorporating a morality system known as Lie System, it presents players with timed choices to lie or tell the truth. This influences the narrative and ultimately affects the game’s multiple endings, as well as how P develops as a character.

Lies of P: Overture Story
Set before the main game's events, Lies of P: Overture transports players to the city of Krat in its final days during the late-19th-century Belle Epoque era, exploring the circumstances leading up to a phenomena known as the Puppet Frenzy.
Players investigate a legendary "Stalker," and gather information as stories and secrets unfold throughout the game. As Geppetto’s Puppet, players' main mission is to explore the past after encountering a mysterious artifact that transports them back to Krat in its final days of grandeur.
