Silksong Copium/Hype Renewed After Brief Clip During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct
After years of eager anticipation and countless speculations, fans of the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight series received the news they’ve been longing for. During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation on April 2, 2025, Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong was showcased, and, at long last, a release window was announced: 2025.
The reveal came as part of a montage that highlights upcoming titles for Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Switch 2. While the segment was brief—only five seconds long, in fact; from 0:15-0:20 of the Switch 2: Partner Sizzle Reel—the impact was monumental. For a game that has been radio silent for a few years now, this confirmation has only renewed the hype for fans worldwide.
Silksong’s Rocky Announcement History
The path to this announcement has been anything but straightforward. Originally envisioned as a downloadable content expansion for the original Hollow Knight, Silksong evolved into a full-fledged sequel due to its expanding scope. Since its initial reveal, though, updates on Silksong have been sporadic, which lead to a whirlwind of rumors and speculations.
Notably, in June 2022, a trailer was showcased during an Xbox event. This, of course, sparked hopes of an imminent release. However, subsequent delays dampened those expectations. The recent update to the game’s Steam page, which shows a 2025 copyright date and GeForce Now compatibility, hinted at progress but left fans yearning for more concrete information. A week later, Silksong shows up to confirm a release window during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation.
As the 2025 release window approaches, everyone will be inhaling copious amounts of copium, and, of course, breathe in the renewed hype. While the wait continues, the horizon now gleams with the promise of hearing that famed "SHAW" once more.
