Ghost of Yōtei Gameplay

Ghost of Yōtei is an action-adventure game set in an open world filled with quests and adventures. From a third-person perspective, players control Atsu, a wandering female warrior in Feudal Japan. Players complete quests, make narrative choices that affect the game, wander through the land of Ezo, and engage in combat using different types of weaponry.
As Atsu, players can wield a katana, dual swords, odachi, a spear, or a kusarigama, each available to master fully with unique branching upgrade trees. She will also have access to ranged weapons like bows, kunai, and bomb powders. The choice and strength of her weapons is important as well, as there are some combinations that will effectively work better, such as the advantage that dual swords have against spear-wielding enemies. Combat aims to replicate that of a classic samurai movie, with sharp precision and smooth moves. In terms of skills, small shrines called Alters of Reflection scattered around the world of Ezo gives Atsu inspiration and allows her to unlock new abilities. They can be found all over the map through exploring, or through specially marked Traveler's Maps from the Cartographer.

The game will let players craft their own experience, exploring the edge of Japan at their own pace. As Atsu journeys through, she will be able to meet NPCs of different kinds, who can further expand her map by giving clue cards on new areas when interrogated. Players can also simply fulfill the wanderlust in them, pulling out Atsu's handy spyglass, catch something in the horizon, and head for it on her trusty horse. The world gradually opens up, in locations and opportunities, the more the player plays. There is a ton of side content waiting for be discovered in Ezo. Even with a bounty on her head as an Onryō, she is able to take on other bounties as well to make money on the side.
In a more story-focused part of the game, with a push of the button, players can freely explore Atsu's past, the evnironment changing immediately to imitate her flashbacks, to relive the memories stored upon that area. Aside from her horse, she will also receive the alliance of a mysterious wolf companion.

When it is time to wind down after a long day, Atsu can set up camp anywhere under the stars of Ezo to rest up, play the shamisen, or meet new people. It employs a more character-driven way to meet NPCs, where travellers will sit down and talk with her as she huddles around the campfire. Meeting new formidable allies will add to her Wolf Pack, trusted individuals who lend their expertise and knowledge to helping her out with her quest for revenge.
Additionally, Atsu will have a variety of clothing items available to buy in-game, letting players add their own personal touches to her overall look.
With a plethora of activites and areas to discover, Ghost of Yōtei is projected to be similar in length to its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, clocking in at approximately 25 hours for the main story, and a total of 46 hours or more to complete everything.
Ghost of Yōtei Story Plot

Ghost of Yōtei follows Atsu, a female warrior adopting the persona of The Ghost. The game transports players in 1603 feudal era Japan—300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima—where a tale of revenge and justice unfolds as Atsu combats corrupt feudal lords. Following the death of her family and the loss of her homestead, she seeks to exact revenge on the perpetrators behind it all.
The game takes place in Mount Yōtei located in Ezo—an area outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. The world is vast, and Atsu is set to traverse every single corner of the map to exact her revenge.
