Back to the Dawn is a prison-break RPG where every day counts. You’ll decide how to spend your time—working out, gathering intel, earning cash, or building relationships—all while inching closer to escape.
Explore Boulderton Prison’s many areas like the library, chapel, and underground tunnels. Take on side quests, do jobs like cooking or laundry, and train your core stats: Strength, Intelligence, and Charisma.
As you progress, you’ll unlock new abilities, craft items, and navigate tense social dynamics with gangs. Dialogue choices shape your reputation and open new paths.
Combat and stealth rely on a unique, dice-based turn system. And outside of fights, there’s always something happening—random events, shifting alliances, and hidden secrets.
Your goal: escape in 21 days. There are multiple routes out, each requiring different tools, allies, and planning. And if you don’t make it? Try again. New Game Plus lets you carry over skills and bonds, making every run smarter—and more dangerous.

Back to the Dawn lets you play as one of three protagonists—two of whom are currently available: Thomas the Fox and Bob the Black Panther.
As Thomas, you're a journalist who’s been framed by the corrupt mayor and thrown into Boulderton Prison. Your goal? Survive, uncover the truth, gather evidence, and plan your escape—all while stopping the former mayor from making a dangerous political comeback. Along the way, you'll meet a cast of colorful, anthropomorphic characters—some allies, some enemies.
Bob, on the other hand, is an undercover cop sent into the prison to investigate and track down a specific target. His mission is more secretive—but just as dangerous.
