Risk of Rain Returns is a remake of the first installment of the 2D action roguelike series, which had some platforming involved. The game seems to have added more Survivors and quality-of-life changes to streamline the experience, while keeping the original aesthetic and gameplay. This is a great change to modernize the first game as there may have been fans unable to play the first game, like me. They’re showing off a complete multiplayer overhaul as well to have a better experience on that front, which makes me excited to play the game with my friends for the first time.

The denizens of Petrichor V are as diverse as the many planets they once called home. As these monsters approached extinction in their own worlds, a mysterious force brought them to Petrichor V. The planet quickly grew to be a menagerie of the most dangerous monsters in the galaxy, and they were not thrilled by interlopers (a.k.a. YOU).

The game is an action roguelike that is meant to test how you traverse a map full of enemies, collect loot to strengthen your Survivor, and move on to the next stage. Pick a variety of Survivors that all play differently and unlock all the different items and skills by successfully doing specific objectives. Survive, loot, and find out how to get out of the hostile planet to get back home safely.
