Hogwarts Legacy State of Play Gameplay Reveal Trailer

The 14-minute gameplay reveal gave us a few interesting details to look out for as the new student at the famous Hogwarts Castle. Players will be able to customize their own character, attend classes, brew potions, explore various areas, and forge relationships among fellow students.

The game's combat system features a lot of wand-to-wand action as you progress within the game. When casting strong spells against adversaries, you can create power-boosting potions and grow magical plants like mandrakes to help you in fight.

The official reveal trailer for the Hogwarts Legacy was released on Sep 17, 2020 since it was supposed to come out during the holidays of that year. You can watch it on their Offical Youtube Channel.

Character Customization

Just like in any RPG, you can customize your own character with different skin colors, hair types, and even a voice slider! After choosing your appearance, you'll also be able to select the Hogwarts house your student is sorted into.

We believe that the impact of players seeing themselves in-game through character customization and the freedom to choose what their character looks like can give them a great memorable experience throughout the game. The player can recreate themselves in the game, making it feel as if they are a student enrolled at Hogwarts. Of course, they could choose to create a completely unique character if they so choose.

Companions & Allies

In Hogwarts Legacy, certain students that you encounter along the road can aid you with your journey. Don't be afraid to forge relationships in the wizarding world. Who knows? You might learn something valuable by hearing about their past and befriending them.

Different Locations with Puzzles

Explore Hogwarts and discover the secret passageways and dungeons that require you to solve a series of challenging puzzles before you can proceed. Players can also go to iconic locations such as Hogsmeade and Forbidden Forest outside the castle grounds; with the seasons changing as you progress through the school year.

Combat & Talent System

You'll be able to wield a wand and cast several spells to defend yourself against foes. You can also invest points in the talent system into different categories like skills and combat abilities to further enhance them. In the gameplay showcase, we've also seen a brief demonstration of the stealth system, which can be used to sneak up on unsuspecting enemy wizards.

We can expect the combat system to be intense yet fun since it allows players to mix and match different spells to create a combo sequence of their own paired with good visual effects as they take down multiple enemies.

Personal Crafting Stations

The Room of Requirement is a mysterious room inside Hogwarts that will only show itself to those who truly need it. It will act as your personal crafting station in-game. You can also go outside The Room of Requirement to enter the Vivarium. In there, you’ll be greeted by a wide nature-like area that you can customize while taking care of your magical beasts!

The gameplay trailer did not go in depth on when you can unlock the room or how to find it, but we can assume that it will happen early in the game since it acts as a safe hub for your character.

We're glad that the devs decided to give us a space of our own that we can use to accommodate our in-game needs such as crafting our potions, nurturing magical beasts, and harvesting plants. Aside from being convenient, we can make it more personal to us by redecorating the area with pieces of furniture and other cosmetic items.

Overall, the game looks to be quite intense and challenging, so it's probably best not to rush through the game. Explore different areas, and learn all sorts of spells to combat enemies. Mastering charms, magic with status effects, as well as how to deflect attacks will make the gameplay more diverse and interesting.

We're excited to learn what kind of adventure awaits us in the vast open-world of Hogwarts Legacy.

Will Hogwarts Legacy Have Microtransactions?

No Microtransactions in Hogwarts Legacy

The community manager at Avalanche Software, Chandler Wood, announced on Twitter that the game will not have microtransactions.

Warner Bros had a terrible history with microtransactions in their games, so we can't help but rejoice the fact that Hogwarts Legacy won't have pay-to-win mechanics. This is definitely good news for players, as their efforts cannot be overshadowed by those who are willing to spend to get ahead, in terms of both aesthetics and tangible stats.
