Battle Shapers came out as an Early Access game on October 3, 2023 on Steam for PC. While it is yet to be revealed when the full game will be released, we can expect it to be out in July 2024 or later. According to the developers, the game will be playable in Early Access for about 9 months or more.

Battle Shapers Plot
Battle Shapers follows Ada, a first-generation robot, as she is awakened for one last mission – to save the once thriving and glorious city of New Elysium. Armed with an array of powerful futuristic weapons and abilities, you are tasked with taking on the evil Overlords, rogue shapers who have taken over the city and corrupted its residents.
Battle Shapers Gameplay
Battle Shapers features fast-paced single-player FPS gameplay with some roguelite mechanics mixed in. The game looks and feels like a blend of Overwatch and Doom with a touch of the Megaman vibe and art style. Players have a wide arsenal of unique weapons to choose from, useful abilities, and a dash to quickly reposition and escape danger. Combat is similar to Doom, where you clear out large rooms of enemies while trying to avoid getting hit, and a melee execute similar to Doom’s "Glory Kill" feature, which restores points on your shield. While clearing out the enemies won’t be too much trouble, it’s keeping your shields and HP up for the difficult boss fights that you’ll be struggling with.
Throughout your run, you’ll slowly get stronger, getting access to new weapons, abilities, and core enhancements (passive perks). This is where the roguelite elements come in, as each run will always be uniquely different from your previous runs, with countless build variations to try out. You may be running a balanced run and gun play style focused on dealing more damage and receiving less in one run and then a more defensive setup focused on reflecting your opponents’ projectiles back at them the next.
Boss fights are a fun and challenging experience most people often struggle with. Its difficulty makes defeating them feel extremely fulfilling. Additionally, killing them is incentivized as it will reward you with the boss’ core or an upgrade to the core if you already have it. These cores change how you play the game as these affect which abilities you have and dictate which Core Enhancements you’ll be able to choose, giving players more agency on how they want to play the game.
