Warframe Mobile is Finally Coming After 11 Years

Warframe has been out for more than a decade and it’s finally coming to mobile! Read on to learn more about Warframe’s upcoming iOS and Android release and what rewards you can earn during the game’s mobile launch week.

Warframe is Coming to Mobile After More Than a Decade

Coming to iOS on February 20, 2024

Better late than never! After more than a decade since its initial release for PC and Console, Warframe’s finally coming to mobile on February 20 for iOS, and on a yet undetermined date for Android.

The free-to-play third-person MMO shooter has been one of Digital Extremes’ most popular titles since 2013, attracting more than 70 million players across PC and console to date. "More than 10 years of Warframe content is now literally at your fingertips in a faithful mobile format you need to experience to believe," the studio said.

Cross-platform play and cross-platform saving will be available across all the game’s official platforms, allowing players to "link up with your Squadmates anytime, anywhere, and maintain your progress across the platform(s) of your choice."

To celebrate the game’s launch, players who log in during the game’s launch week event will be rewarded with a three-day double XP boost and a unique in-game cosmetic.

In The Wake of Digital Extremes Recent Layoffs

Warframe’s mobile release was completed in the wake of Digital Extremes’ relatively recent layoffs in late 2023 when the Canada-based studio let go of an indeterminate number of employees as part of its decision to shut down its external projects division.

"We can confirm we have made the difficult decision to cease operations of our external projects division," said a spokesperson from the studio.

"We have had to say goodbye to a number of hardworking and highly valuable team members as a result and we’re working with Airship to transition full control of Wayfinder to them in the coming months."
