Street Fighter 6 Brings Back Alex On March 17 as DLC

sf6 alex

Street Fighter 6’s Alex is set to arrive this March 17 as part of Capcom’s Year 3 plans. Learn more about Alex’s return, combat style and Kenny Omega’s involvement.

Alex Arrives in Street Fighter 6 this March 17

A Classic Character Returns to Street Fighter

Alex is officially coming to Street Fighter 6 this March 17 as part of Capcom’s additional content for Year 3, where he will be joining Street Fighter alums like Sagat and C. Viper into the roster. Alex is slated to release this March 17 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Capcom announced his return with a three-minute gameplay trailer on YouTube and other social channels, showcasing both new and familiar abilities.

Similar to previous Street Fighter 6 DLC characters, owners of the Year 3 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass will automatically unlock him at launch. However, he can also be purchased individually for 350 Fighter Coins (FG), which players can buy in the Capcom store for $11.99 as a coin bundle.

Alex’s New Archetype and Prowler Stance

Alex will be Street Fighter 6’s latest grappler, an archetype known for unleashing a variety of unblockable command grabs to their opponents. Characters like Zangief and Manon are some of Street Fighter 6’s best grapplers, as most of their moves require closing the gap and performing high-damage throws.

In a recent blog posted by Capcom, they revealed that Alex’s "charge-type" moves, which was his staple combos in both Street Fighter III and Street Fighter V have been reworked. Alex’s Street Fighter 6 version now reflects how he has made bank with his professional wrestling career, adding new moves to his routine, including a new "Prowler stance."

"Prowler stance" opens his moveset to a defensive state. The catch is that he cannot block during this state, but that does not mean he is open for assaults. According to Capcom, Alex will have "11 different follow-up options" to counteract opponents who rush into him when he is in Prowler Stance. This essentially confirms that Alex will go from a charge-type to a stance-type character like Chun-Li with her iconic Serenity Stream stance.

Eagle-eyed fans who stayed until the end of Alex’s trailer noticed that Alex’s Level 2 Super uses All Elite Wrestling professional wrestler Kenny Omega’s iconic moves. These moves are specifically the V-Trigger and the One-Winged Angel, where the latter even shows off his signature one-winged motif. In a post/video/interview/where they said it, Capcom has confirmed that Omega has indeed performed some of the motion capture for Alex.

What’s Next After Alex

After Alex’s arrival, Capcom plans to release one more hero for its Year 3 Character Pass, Ingrid.

Ingrid is the fourth and final character to be added in the Year 3 Character Pass. She remains a complete mystery apart from her Late Spring 2026 release, but fans are already dreading her addition as she once was a problem in Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX due to her out of place visual witch-y aesthetic in an otherwise street brawler.

Since Street Fighter 6’s release on June 2, 2023, Capcom has offered annual passes that add four new characters, stages and bonus content to the base game. They each cost $29,99 per pack.

Year 1 saw the characters like Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma into the roster, whereas Year 2 added Fatal Fury icons as guest characters, Terry and Mai. Returning characters like Elena and Bison, also return in the Year 2 Pass.

As for the Year 3 of Street Fighter 6’s Character Pass, here are the full release details of each character added:

⚫︎ Sagat - Released on August 5, 2025
⚫︎ C. Viper - Released on October 15, 2025
⚫︎ Alex - Coming this March 17, 2026
⚫︎ Ingrid - Late Spring 2026

The Year 3 Fighter Pass, like previous passes, also includes a bonus of 3,000 Drive Tickets to purchase cosmetics from Street Fighter 6’s in-game store.

It remains unclear if Capcom still has a Year 4 Character Pass in the future, but given Street Fighter 6’s monumental success with sales reaching 6 million units worldwide, there’s a possibility that more DLC characters will arrive.
