SMT V: Vengeance Will Have Over 270 Demons

New Story Will Be Dark and Emphasize Demons

Image

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Director Shigeo Komori and Character Designer Masayuki Doi recently discussed with Famitsu the increased roster of demons in the game.

They attributed this decision to two main factors: the high praise received for the quality of the 3D demons and the numerous requests from users for more demon variety. The original game featured over 221 demons, which expanded to 234 with DLC.

In addition to including demons from previous games, they will introduce newly designed demons by veteran illustrator Doi. Komori emphasized the significance of these "devils," which players can "raise and interact" with.

While they didn't delve into further details about this new feature during the interview, they mentioned in a recent Spotlight stream that the "demon's presence" will be felt throughout the gameplay. This could involve having them serve as navigators or performing various actions in Da'at to showcase their movements.

According to Doi, the upcoming storyline, known as the Goddess of Vengeance arc, will take a "dark and bitter" turn and place greater emphasis on the "Megaten" characters and intriguing demons compared to its predecessor. Komori elaborated that this arc will be crafted as a "tale of revenge for the oppressed," centered around the Snake God, Qadištu.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is set to release on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series XIS on June 21, 2024. For more information on the new additions to the gameplay click the article below.
