Reigns: The Witcher Announced for PC and Mobile
Releasing February 25
Reigns: The Witcher is the latest entry in the popular Reigns mobile strategy series, featuring the dark fantasy world of the Witcher franchise. CD Projekt Red has partnered with developer Nerial and publisher Devolver Digital to deliver a fresh swipe-em-up game that is set to launch on February 25, 2026, on PC and mobile devices.
Starting in 2016, the Reigns series established itself through its signature "swipe-to-decide" gameplay, using a simple binary system to drive the narrative forward. This was the craze during that period, as popular dating apps that emerged, like Tinder, used similar mechanics.

Its gameplay is a card-based roguelite loop in which players must balance competing stats through a series of randomized choices. While unfortunate events may occur, each failure grants new knowledge and cards to improve their chances in the next run.
Over the years, the series has partnered with several hit shows, including HBO’s Game of Thrones in 2018 and Netflix’s Three Kingdoms in 2022, producing games that align with each show's lore.
A Witcher Fan-Fiction Simulator

The upcoming partnership with The Witcher marks yet another significant milestone for Reigns, bringing the series' signature mechanics to another iconic world. During an interview with Games Radar+ on January 28, Reigns: The Witcher Narrative designer Oscar Harrington-Shaw and Design Director Francois Alliot shared what fans can expect from their latest title.
Both developers described the game as a "Witcher fan-fiction simulator," presenting new scenarios that would lead Geralt to different outcomes. Familiar characters such as Yen, Triss, and Vesemir, as well as enemies like trolls and The Lodge, will also appear in the game.
"You play as Geralt, trying to survive on the Path, but within the songs of Dandelion. So the scenarios which you face stay true to the confines of the Witcher universe; they’re quests which Geralt plausibly could have gone on, but they’re also storylines which Dandelion has written to entertain an audience, perhaps after one or two drinks," they explained.
More Combat-Oriented

In terms of gameplay, the developers have aptly based it on The Witcher’s combat feel. Although the game retains the series' hallmark swiping mechanics, it also introduces mini-games where players navigate rhythmic, grid-based combat, cast magical Witcher Signs, and engage in other features inspired by The Witcher.
While previous collabs added more to the original Reigns title, such as Game of Thrones’ "what-if" endings and the Three Kingdoms’ turn-based tactical card battle system, Reigns: The Witcher’s structure will be more combat-heavy.
"In the fight scenes, we tried to recreate the feeling of the Witcher dancing with a sword around his enemies within the simple format of our game and the swiping mechanic. The fights are inspired by Crypt of the Necrodancer, swiping left and right in rhythm to avoid the enemy’s attack while preparing to strike," the developers said.
The Never-Ending Deaths and Adventures of Geralt

One of the primary aspects of this new Reigns title is the perpetual and creative variety of endings for Geralt. As mentioned earlier, each run is told by The Witcher’s lovable bard, Dandelion, who exaggerates each experience to entertain the listening audience.
By pushing the game’s comedic elements to the center, the narrative encourages players to explore various playthroughs and discover new, often absurd paths toward Geralt’s inevitable end. "Players can expect to see humorous riffs on familiar tales alongside brand new adventures! It will feel both familiar and new to anyone who knows this world," they stated.
Reigns: The Witcher is set to launch on February 25, 2026, on PC via Steam and GOG.com, and on iOS and Android devices. However, a Nintendo Switch port remains possible, following the pattern of previous titles that launched on the console a year or so after their initial release.
