Mewgenics DLC Plans Teased by Developer
First DLC Could Arrive By Late Next Year
Mewgenics developer Tyler Glaiel has given players a clearer idea of when the game’s first DLC might arrive, suggesting in a February 21 post on X (formerly Twitter) that it may not release until late next year.
Glaiel mentioned that he and co-developer Edmund McMillen have "been discussing and mapping out what we want to do for DLC 1." He added that he is "getting a little bit excited about it."
The post drew several replies, including a question about how long it might take to develop the DLC. Glaiel replied that the first expansion is intended to be "small" and could arrive "ideally like, end of next year maybe. But who knows."
He mentioned that he will need several months to address bugs and provide support for the base game before fully beginning work on DLC. "But the planning begins now at least," said Glaiel.

The developers also spoke about the DLC plans during a Reddit AMA on February 9, after Mewgenics received its Steam Deck Verified status. McMillen said the team has "a rough idea of something small, like a few more classes and more areas," but will hold off on starting development until they have a clearer sense of "what people like and want to see more of."
Mewgenics Off To Strong Start

Developed by Tyler Glaiel and Edmund McMillen, Mewgenics was released on February 10 and sold over a million copies within its first week, reaching more than 115,000 concurrent players on Steam at its peak. Following the release, Glaiel shared on BlueSky that the game had recouped its development budget within three hours.
Mewgenics is a tactical role-playing roguelike that revolves around breeding cats and sending them into turn-based tactical combat. Players manage a growing feline bloodline, raising cats with varying stats, classes, and abilities, equipping and evolving their squads to take on randomly generated battles.
At Game8, we highlighted Mewgenics’ insane tactical depth and sheer content volume, while also pointing out its glacial progression, unforgiving difficulty, and steep price point. For our in-depth review of the game, see the article below.
