PRAGMATA Steam Demo Now Available
Introducing Players to Its Hacking and Shooting Gameplay
PRAGMATA received an April 24, 2026, release date during The Game Awards 2025, and this announcement was paired with the immediate release of a free gameplay demo, which the developers intend to use to test the game’s optimization and ensure it runs smoothly at launch.
Speaking with Automaton on December 12, PRAGMATA Producer Naoto Oyama and Director Cho Yonghee shared their insights on what players can expect from the demo. According to Oyama, the team wanted players to test the PC version on a global scale, which would also be their first time to properly check the dedicated mouse-and-keyboard controls.

Regarding optimization, the PRAGMATA developers are keenly focused on maintaining framerate stability across diverse environments. As developer Oyama noted, "Our policy was to put comfort first even if it meant sacrificing certain graphical aspects."
Additionally, the demo will allow players the chance to experience the game’s unique hacking and shooting elements. It will also include a few surprises designed to make a second playthrough worthwhile.
Here at Game8, we thought that the PRAGMATA Sketchbook demo was the perfect bite-size glimpse of Capcom’s newest IP, giving players around 20-30 minutes of the sci-fi hacking-and-shooting gameplay. To know more about our thought’s on the game’s demo, check out ourt review below.
Switch 2 Version Running Well

Capcom also announced during the said event that PRAGMATA will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite the hybrid console being less powerful than its peers (PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S), Oyama mentioned that the Switch 2 version is running very well and is currently on par with Resident Evil Requiem (RE9).
Both titles are developed using Capcom’s RE ENGINE, and with RE9 initially announced for Switch 2 in September 2025, it was highly likely that PRAGMATA would follow suit. In an interview with Famitsu after the Switch 2 announcement, RE9 Director Koshi Nakanishi said that optimizing the horror title was "pretty smooth."
"To begin with, we designed the game to be fairly scalable. We’ve been adjusting a range of options while developing it so that it can support everything from high-spec to relatively low-spec systems," he stated.

While there were rumblings that PRAGMATA was delayed to accommodate Switch 2’s release, Oyama clarified that it was just simply because the game wasn’t at the quality they wanted to deliver.
For context, PRAGMATA was first announced during PlayStation 5’s reveal event in June 2020. Since then, the game has faced multiple delays, entering a state of development uncertainty that caused many to doubt whether Capcom's new IP would ever be released.

Now that the launch has been officially announced, Capcom is focused on delivering a fresh and engaging single-player experience. With the demo now available, fans can now try out the game’s dual-character and simultaneous-control system as they explore the lunar space station.
PRAGMATA is set to be released on April 24, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below.
