Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Was Just Revealed
Lets You Open Up and Collect Card Packs Digitally!
The penultimate announcement in the special Pokemon Presents livestream was the world’s first look at Pokemon’s new mobile digital card game, "Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket(TCGP)." It will allow players to open up digital card packs and collect Pokemon cards akin to the physical Pokemon card collectibles!
To make obtaining the digital cards special, Pokemon TCGP will have a distinct set of "immersive cards" which will enable players to jump into the cards’ artworks and be immersed into their illustrations.
With card games, they can’t forget about the actual card battles! Pokemon TCGP will allow players to engage in quick card battles against other players using a streamlined ruleset based on the classic Pokemon TCG battle system.
The mobile game is being developed by The Pokemon Company in a three-way collaboration with Creatures Inc., the company who creates the physical Pokemon Trading Cards, and DeNA, the developers of Pokemon Masters EX. It will become available to download for iOS and Android devices for free this 2024.
How Creatures Inc. Adapts The Physical Trading Card Game Into Digital
During the same presentation Creatures Inc. President and CEO Yuji Kitano spoke how they took a very careful and meticulous approach in adapting the physical card game into a digital platform. He spoke how they were always concerned with the most important aspects of the cards: the paper quality, the colors, and the printing process. For TCGP, they had to formulate another way to properly maintain and signify their care, and one such result was the implementation of the aforementioned "immersive cards" that allow players to be sucked into the cards’ worlds.
