Pocketpair’s Indie Publishing Business Opens
Pocketpair Publishing Determined To Help Many Great Indie Games
Pocketpair Publishing opened last week and was immediately met with overwhelming reception. Within less than one week, the publishing division received 400 emails, 150 pitches, and 2,000+ LinkedIn requests.
The company was "blown away" by the interest and they’re doing their best to review all the pitches. However, they already put it out there that they cannot help everyone immediately, but they’re "determined to help as many great games get made as possible."
With all these promising indie games hoping for a spot in Pocketpair Publishing’s list, one game has already been confirmed for production. An original, currently unnamed horror game by Assassin’s Creed actor Abubakar Salim and his studio Surgent Studios. No concrete details on its story or content have been revealed as of writing, but it is slated for release later this year.
Surgent Studios Headed By Assassin’s Creed Bayek
Surgent Studios is founded by Abubakar Salim, best known for voicing Assassin’s Creed Origins’ Bayek and House of the Dragon’s Alyn. However, he is also the creative director for the Metroidvania title Tales of Kenzera: ZAU. Once news of the partnership broke out, he took it upon himself to share it to his X (Twitter) as well.
"This is the energy I want to see driving games in 2025—developers lifting each other up, creating together, and pushing the industry forward," Salim wrote, adding that it’s an incredible honor to be the first officially announced title under Pocketpair Publishing and that he can’t wait to share more news about the game.
Three Projects Already Lined Up For Pocketpair Publishing
Pocketpair Publishing’s communications director John "Bucky" Buckley (more commonly known as Palworld’s community manager) shared a graphic on his X (Twitter) illustrating that the indie publishing division is "100% independent" with no other external influence. Under Pocketpair Publishing are three projects, with Surgent Studios’ game in the center, and the other two marked with strings of question marks. With this news, players can expect three games from the label in the coming months or years.
